The Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament is a prestigious international rugby union tournament for 15-a-side youth teams which is held every year during the Golden Week holidays (April 29 - May 5/6) in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan. Participation is by invitation only, and the overseas schools selected by their respective unions to represent their country are generally expected to be of the highest standard and among the top five in each country. The event is hosted by the Japan Rugby Football Union and supported by various local bodies including the Kyushu RFU, the Sanix Sports Foundation and Munakata City. In 2008 Glenwood was chosen by SARU to represent South Africa at the prestigious SANIX World Youth Championships in Japan. Glenwood managed to win this tournament, beating the champions of England, New Zealand and France along the way. Glenwood was invited back in 2009 and, although they did not win the tournament, they had the satisfaction of beating the New Zealand champions, De La Salle College from Auckland 37 – 10 in the third-place playoff.
