Getting to Know Windows 7 This Is a Quick Guide to Some of the New

Getting to Know Windows 7 This is a quick guide to some of the new features when you first login to a computer with Windows 7. Remember, this is only the beginning… New look to desktop default background New look for Taskbar and Taskbar buttons Start button replaced with Windows Orb System tray icons are in a single, “hidden” location, taking up less space The Start Menu is accessed by clicking on the Windows Orb. It is the central link to your computer’s programs and file storage. The Shut Down button is also located here. Programs can be removed from the left pane list in the Start Menu. Programs can be “Pinned” to the Start Menu. When first using Windows 7, the Taskbar buttons represent open programs. Programs can be “Pinned” to the Taskbar for future quick access. Multiple open windows of the same program are neatly “hidden” behind the unlabeled program icon. Pinning to the Start Menu: Click the Windows Orb Select All Programs Navigate to the program that will be pinned to the Start Menu Right click on the program (Microsoft Excel has been selected in the screenshot example to the left.)
