She began her legal career as a public prosecutor in 1997. Ms. Lee was the first woman in Korea to serve as the fourth deputy chief prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and as the head of the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office. She retired from the prosecutors’ office in February 2020. Ms. Lee’s distinguished public service career includes various key roles. These include: Incheon District Prosecutors' Office and the Attorney General’s Office of the Korean Ministry of Justice; professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute; head of the Criminal Dept. #2 of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office; head of Criminal Trial Dept. #3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office; head of the Youngdong Branch of the Cheongju District Prosecutors' Office; head of the Criminal Dept. #3 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office; and as a deputy chief prosecutor at the Bucheon Branch of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office. Ms. Lee has over 23 years of significant experience, based on her involvement as a prosecutor in various high-profile criminal cases (includingcorporate embezzlement, malpractice, economic & tax-related cases, advanced technology- related cases, violent crime cases, food & drug-related cases) as well as related investigations and trials.
