Brief assessment’s findings and planned response. ALERT AND ASSESSMENT Cause of displacement– Searching and cleaning operation conducted by ANSF/by supporting IMF in Eshantoop, ZardKamar, Naikpay and Jangal Bashi villages of Khanabad district, Kunduz province on 22st January. Displacement data– conflict areas to Khan Abad district Eshantoop ZardKamar and Naikpay villages. Number of households assessed – 842 Number of households eligible under ERM assistance – 145 COORDINATED RESPONSE Food – WFP two-month food ration in-kind to all 145 households. NFIs – ADA/OXFAM will provide 4,000 AFN Cash for all 145 households to cover the NFI needs. Shelter–ADA/OXFAM will provide 3,000 AFN Cash for all 145 households. Health – ADA/OXFAM will provide 4,000 AFN Cash for all 145 households. Fuel – ADA/OXFAM will provide 4,000 AFN Cash for all 145 households. Transportation – ADA/OXFAM will provide 1,000 AFN Cash for all 145 households. WASH – DACAAR to provide wash kits and conduct wash activities to all 145 households. Protection – ACTED Protection officer found one family who need for psychosocial support and the protection officer referred this family to HI for Psychosocial support and we will follow up the protection cases with relevant partners. Market assessment – Kunduz market Functional, accessible and with availability of NFI and food goods. ACTED RESPONSE ACTED Caseload number - B093 ACTED Response n/a Response rationale – ACTED will not be providing assistance to this caseload because there are some other partners that have cash assistance for IDPs, So ADA/OXFAM is desirous to respond to this caseload by providing MPCA. Note: The first phase of this caseload was already responded under B091 by WFP, UNHCR, ADA and DACAAR. 2. SECTORIAL ISSUES: A) WASH WASH- Water: In this caseload joint assessment teams found 6 families that are using unsafe dug wells water, and the remaining 139 families have access to safe and clean water either for Drinking, Bathing and Cooking. Joint Assessment teams have found out three types of water sources in IDPs settlement area such as: 62 IDP families are using Hand Pump, 23 Families are using Pipe water for daily consumption and 60 IDP families are using dug wells water for utilizing. The water sources are about 1-12 minutes away by walking to the settlement area. To make sure that water sources are safe and clean for daily utilization, DACAAR has conducted some water quality tests, like: turbidity, EC, PH & Bacteria tests. Results indicate that the water of the accessible water sources in the IDP settlement area ( Hand Pumps, Pipe water and some Dug wells water) are safe and clean according to Afghanistan safe water standard and 6 IDP families are using unsafe dug well water. After surveillance by DACAAR Field ERM Team, DACAAR recommends to distribute 6 set bio sand filter to support the 6 IDP families. WASH-Sanitation: On hand latrine facility composed of family pit latrines & community latrines. About 7 families do not have access to any latrines and are doing open defecation. To concentrate on this issue and to prevent any diseases caused by insanitariness. DACAAR recommends the construction of emergency bath and latrine. Based on physical observation mainly on the geographical propinquity, the following EBL distribution has been figured out: Condition Proposed EBL 7 IDP families are living in a separate 7 HHs 7 Sets of EBL Total 7 Sets Recommendation: DACAAR suggests the construction of 7 sets of emergency bath and latrines for7 families who are still involved in open defecation. Sanitation and cleanliness education will also be provided to 145 families of this caseload, in order to make sure first-rate sanitation. WASH-Hygiene: JNA found that the standard of living of the affected people is low. JNA teams observed that their environment was unclean. The affected people carelessly dropped the rubbish in their surroundings. Taking into consideration this issue, DACAAR directs the distribution of HE Kits and HE Messages as a unified interference to increase healthiness in this population. Recommendation: DACAAR intends the giving out of hygiene kits to 145 families with hygiene education. In addition to this, giving out of plastic garbage bags (8 bags / family) will be the part of assistance pack up in order to avoid rubbish in the upcoming time. For full package of WASH assistance, following points are recommendation from DACAAR. 1. Distributing HE Kits and HE Messages to all 145 IDP families. 2. Distributing 58 Kg of plastic bags to all 145 IDP families (or 8 bags/family) to address solid waste issues. 3. DACAAR proposes the distribution of 6 set BSF to 6 families, who are collecting water from unsafe dug wells. 4. DACAAR proposes the construction 7 EBL to 7 families, who are doing open defecation Challenges: Joint Assessment Teams did not encounter any serious challenges during the assessment. Conclusion: Based on joint assessment taken place in Kunduz Center/neighboring villages, DACAAR herewith would like to provide the above mentioned assistance to 145 IDPs, so it has been submitted for your kind approval. 3.
