Sufi Ruhaniat International The Esoteric Studies Program Murshid Wali Ali Meyer Breath and Fikr Contents and Materials List Course Description Breath and Fikr – Having taken prayer from full oral recitation, to the focused prayers of the each individual wazifa, to the all inclusive reality of the One and Only Being, now the direction of our practice is to internalize the prayer on the breath. This inner direction invites consideration of the breath itself as an indwelling Divine presence. Sufi teachings on this subject are studied in depth as well as practices for the development of intuition and insight. ~Murshid Wali Ali Meyer This series is intended for mureeds who have completed Prayer and the God-Ideal, Wazifa Studies, and Zikr and Concentration. If you feel that this is appropriate for your growth at this time, without the prerequisites, please feel free to contact us for more guidance. This program of study was offered monthly in San Rafael, CA in 2003, over a period of 11 months. Concurrently mureeds were able to study at a distance, utilizing a new technology at that time – downloading the study materials from the internet, or receiving them through the mail. The materials have been divided into two series, allowing a student to study in a self-paced fashion. Many students take two months or more to work with each session. The materials have been used in local study circles adapted to meet the needs of the group. Finding a study partner or group can be extremely helpful. Wali Ali is available by email for questions about the process and any experiences that arise. Study Materials TEXTS: Mureeds are provided with a reader of texts drawn from the works of Hazrat Inayat Khan with commentaries and original writing by Murshid Samuel L Lewis. Assignments and practices for each class are included. RECORDINGS: The classes were recorded, and the recordings were edited into tracks of approximately 3 to 10 minute duration. Each track is titled by topic, and the listener can skip, repeat, and fast-forward to the next track, allowing for easy navigation. Included in this packet is the table of contents and audio track list for Breath and Fikr Series I and II. This provides an overview of the specific study materials. These were drawn from the pdfs of the reader. Breath and Fikr Class Description ONLINE ACCESS: Upon payment of class fees, the mureed is sent the weblink for the class materials, with access codes. The reader is provided as a PDF and the audio tracks are in MP3 format, compressed into zip files for easy download. HARD COPIES OF STUDY MATERIALS: Class fees cover the cost of tuition, and access to the online materials. Hard copies of the materials such as the reader or CDs of the recordings are available at an extra charge to cover production and shipping costs. Readers are produced double-sided with plastic cover and coil binding. Depending on the needs of the mureed, recordings are provided either as a set of audio CDs, or as one MP3 disk per series.
