SOLAR DECATHLON CHINA 中国国际太阳能十项全能竞赛组委会 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF SOLAR DECATHLON CHINA SOLAR DECATHLON Initiated by the U.S. Department of Energy, Solar Decathlon (SD) is an award-winning program that challenges collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy- efficient, and attractive. qSolar During the competition, the operation of the houses will be solely powered by solar energy. qDecathlon The competition entries will be comprehensively assessed in ten independently scored contests. Solar Decathlon has expanded globally in the United States, China, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America & Caribbean HISTORY The first Solar Decathlon event was held in Washington D.C., U.S. in 2002. Since then, it has been influencing all governments of the world and obtaining support from enterprises and the public. With the authorization of the U.S. Department of Energy, China Overseas Development Association forms SDC Organizing Committee to hold the competitions in China, supported by related departments, local governments and other major partners. The first & second SDC took place in Datong, Shanxi Province 2013 and Dezhou, Shandong Province in 2018 respectively. qMission SDC aims to create a workforce development and education program which can provide student architects, engineers, business majors, and communicators the opportunity to cooperate in designing and building sustainable housing projects that can respond to people’s daily realities and regional development. In addition, there were support and participation of more than 30 governmental agencies, more than 200 international institutions and the enterprises in relevant industries, as well as 260,000 visitors.
