Predicting Cancer disease using Jaimini techniques Ganesh Jayakumar Abstract: Makara, the Vedic mythical beast is neither aquatic nor terrestrial. In many descriptions and sculptures of this creature across Bharatha, Indonesia, Cambodia, Sri-Lanka and Thailand, it is depicted to have the face of a stag, deer, crocodile or elephant while the legs are either peacock feather, fish or seal tail. This complex nature of this mythical beast can be closely associated with the sign Capricorn, the 10th sign of the natural zodiac. Even if Makara were to be treated as a crocodile, it is the only creature that is alive today that has close resemblance to the dinosaur era. Therefore, Makara rasi can be treated as a complex sign that can cause mutations, tumors and cancer when afflicted. Especially when the Jaimini cara Karakas of the person falls in the Makara rasi and is afflicted, the probability of suffering cancer increases. Makara is also the first of the Saturn ruled signs and Saturn is the natural karaka for disease. In this paper, I will present 25 case studies of tumorous cancer diseases and its correlation to an afflicted Makara rasi. Introduction: Below is an excerpt of Maharisi Jaimini’s sutras related to Makara or Capricorn rasi: Makaraamse jalodbhutairjantubhih kheCarastathaa. Samkha –muvtaa –pravaalaadyai Bhavati niscitah. BPHS, Effects of Karakamsa, 6 1/2 – 7 In Capricorn Navamsa animals living in water, and birds cause fear. There will certainly be gains of shells, pearls, and edible vegetables produced in water. When the Aatmakaraka planet of a person falls in Capricorn rasi in the D9 (Navamsa) chart, then the person is treated to have a Capricorn or Makara svamsa. According to Ernst Wilhelm’s translation of Jaimini sutras “The Atmakaraka falling in Capricorn Navamsa gives a potential host of difficulties. Aquatic animals symbolize frustrated feelings and emotional disrepair, as well as emotional denial that can lead to escapist or addictive tendencies. “Khechara” has to do with anything moving through the air, these indicate birds, which represent mental thoughts that create frustration and make life intolerable. It also means spirits and creates a tendency to psychic disorders. Meaning planets as well, this represents the powerful karmic influences of the planets, whose momentum is most powerful with respect to Capricorn, but which the native generally finds frustrating as there is a great attachment to the use of their will and decisiveness and the effects these give. This leaves them frustrated without a proper idea of fate, destiny and freewill. “Kheta” represents the watery humor in the body, disorders with this represent the effects of unbalanced, disturbed or extremely sensitive emotions. “Kheta” also means defectiveness or deterioration, and so those with the Atmakaraka falling in Capricorn often experience themselves as defective, in the wrong, on the wrong path, etc, unable to move out of their current predicament (stuck in a village of peasants – another meaning of Kheta), and see their life as going downhill. “Dushtagranthi” indicates disorders such as cancer, and so Capricorn does give a tendency towards cancer as well as a tendency to not take care of things at the root level when necessary and this creates other “cancers” as well. “Ripphe” indicates a tendency of deceit and fraud in life and frustration over it. This has a lot to do with being frustrated with the “unfairness” of life, which in reality is very harmonious and fair when considered from a more knowledgeable perspective.”[1] Capricorn is the 10th sign of the natural zodiac. At this stage, the soul is in the last steps of evolution before liberation at Pisces. The attachment to the body, the self and the actions, one's capability are broken at the stage of Capricorn. According to yogic folklore, people who love their bodies and self very much have a hard time leaving the body and suffer immense pain at the time of death. Same way planets in Capricorn can influence the ego to cling onto the body, the self and their actions so much that it makes them conscientious or gives serious demeanor and controlling nature. People who have prominent self-factors such as the Sun, the moon or Aatmakaraka in Capricorn would love to be in charge of the situation and will normally take the necessary action to get what they want. It is after all the natural 10th house. But God or situations will break their will by putting them in circumstances such that their actions mean nothing at all. Due to that attitude of being in control and working very hard and being excessively assertive, Capricorn natives have a pre-disposition for all kinds of mental, emotional, psychological and physical problems. Of course the sign has to be afflicted or Saturn has to be afflicted for this purpose. In the next section, case studies are presented. Case studies and discussion: Case study 1: Paul Newman (Lung cancer) Birth details: 26 January 1925 at 6:30 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA He has Capricorn lagna and debilitated (DB) Jupiter; along with 6th cusp disease lord Mercury and Venus are present there. Case study 2: Patrick Swayze (Pancreatic cancer) Birth details: 18 August 1952 at 8:10 in Housley Addition, TN, USA He has Saturn, the natural karaka for disease in the sign of Capricorn in D9. Saturn is also the 8th lord of chronic illness in the D1. His position in the D9 is very important for this purpose. Then most importantly he has both Rahu and Ketu in the Capricorn in the D30 chart. Rahu and Ketu are secondary karaka for disease in the D30 chart and have karmic influence on the nature of disease. Case study 3: Farrah Fawcett (Anal cancer) Birth details: 2 February 1947 at 15:10 in Corpus Christi, TX, USA She has Sun, the natural AK in Capricorn in the D9 chart. Additionally she also has Rahu and Ketu in Capricorn in the D30 chart. Then in the D60 chart she has DB Jupiter with Rahu in the sign of Capricorn with the 6th cusp. Case study 4: Chart 1 Birth details: 29 December 1961 at 2:08:35 in fagernes, Oppland, Norway. In this person’s case her sister was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma while father died of Colon and Prostate Cancer. In her D1 chart, she has Saturn, Mercury (BK), Sun (PiK), Mars (GK), Venus (DK) in the sign of Capricorn. Saturn is severely hurting all the other planets in the same sign by conjunction. The most severe damage is taken by Sun as both are mutual enemies. Sun is the natural karaka for father. Venus also is secondary karaka for father and represents the DNA that is inherited from the father. Then Mercury is also combust in the chart and he is the BK. Mars who is the natural karaka for a younger sibling is also combust and hurt by Saturn. Besides the 3rd cusp of younger siblings falls in the sign of Capricorn. In the D9 chart she again has Venus and Mars in Makara rasi. Then in the D30 Jupiter (ruler of 3rd cusp in D30) and Mars are located in Makara rasi. In the D60, Venus (ruler of 10th cusp) is also situated in Makara rasi. Case study 5: Chart 2 (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) Birth details: 14 March 1965 at 8:11:31 in Fagernes, Oppland, Norway. This person is the younger sister of the person in case study 4 who actually suffered the hodgkin's lymphoma. In her chart there are no planets in Capricorn in the D1 and D9 chart. But in the D30 chart she has Mercury (Dispositor of AK, Sun and Rahu and Ketu) in Makara rasi. Saturn the ruler of the Makara rasi is severely afflicted by being in Cancer, his natural enemy sign. Then the lagna lord Sun is afflicted by conjunction to Rahu and Ketu. In the D60, Sun (AK) and DB Jupiter (6th cusp lord) are in Capricorn. Case study 6: Chart 3 (Colon and Prostrate cancer) Birth details: 6 January 1928 at 16:11:51 in Moelv, Troms, Norway. This person is the father of the person in case study 4 who actually died of cancer. In his case, Sun the natural AK is in Makara in D1 along with Mercury. The ruler of Makara, Saturn is severely afflicted by being combust, conjunct Mars, Ketu and rasi aspected by Rahu. In the D30, his AK Jupiter is DB Makara along with natural AK, Sun. Case study 7: Chart 4 (Breast cancer) Birth details: 17 Jan 1990 at 11:20 in Gdansk, Poland This person’s mother suffered breast cancer. In his D1 chart, he has Saturn (MK), Mercury (GK), Sun (AmK), Venus (AK) in Capricorn. In this case Saturn the MK is severely afflicted by conjunction to Sun who is the natural enemy. Compared to case study 4, one could state that this person’s father suffered cancer too given that Sun and Venus are afflicted in the D1 chart. But looking at the D9 chart this becomes very clear. In the D9 chart, Moon is in Capricorn. Moon is the natural karaka for mother. Even though in this chart Moon is the PiK, the mother suffers than the father. Moon is also the 4th cusp lord in the D1 chart, so his position in the D9 chart is very important. It is hard to tell if the father of this native also has suffered any diseases such as cancer. That is because his father abandoned this native at a young age of 3 years (see the Sun-Saturn conjunction in the D1 chart). In the D30 chart same pattern continues, Jupiter (dispositor of moon), Mars (4th cusp lord), Sun are in Capricorn.
