The company signed the property deal with the seller Hartela on 28 August 2019. The properties at the addresses Sorvaajankatu 13 and 15 were built in 1973 and 1991, and their leasable area is 13,972 sqm in total. The properties have several tenants whose current lease agreements will continue as normal. “The logistics properties are located in the developing commercial area of Herttoniemi, which is in high demand. It can be easily accessed by both metro and car. The investment is in line with our strategy whereby we are investing in office and logistics properties in the growth centres of Finland,” says Atte Köykkä, Conficap's Director, Real Estates. “We are very pleased that our long-term real estate investments have found a new owner from another Finnish family company,” says Tapio Rantanen, Hartela Southern Finland’s Executive Vice President. In the past year, Conficap has expanded its real estate business by acquiring office and logistics properties in, for instance, the heart of Helsinki at Vuorikatu 20, in Pitäjänmäki in Helsinki and in Espoo and Vantaa. In the Turku region, the company has acquired the famous Torinkulma property in Turku and a property known as Lasikuutio (“Glass Cube”) in Raisio. “As a Finnish family-owned company, we want to operate close to our customers and are strongly committed to developing our properties in cooperation with the tenants,” says Köykkä. The property serves as the premises of the Finnish HVAC and wholesale business Onninen, which was sold by Onvest, the predecessor of Conficap, to Kesko in 2016. The buyer in the deal that was realised in the summer is the tenant of the property, Onninen Polska, which is owned by Kesko Oyj. “We have decided to centralise our direct property ownership in Finland. We will still continue our operations abroad, but instead of direct investments, we will focus on collective investments and real estate funds. Prior to this, we have already sold our properties in Örebro, Sweden, for example,” says Atte Köykkä.
