At half time in the seniors today I would like to welcome all of ours and Longwarry’s life members, committee and workers for afternoon tea. I would also like to welcome everyone to stay back and have a drink after the game. Last week against Poowong in atrocious conditions we weren't good enough to get over the line and a win against one of the top 3 sides on the way home is imperative to our chance of playing finals footy. The same can be said about the second's who really struggled for any cohesion last week and were totally outplayed by Poowong. The junior boys continue to impress with the U18's having great success so far. We have to pick ourselves up and be positive and really challenge the Crows today. The netballers will also be desperate for wins today to keep any hope alive of contending in the finals series. Our Cat Draw 2 weeks ago was a great success for the club and all who partaked in the evening. A big thank you goes out to the coordinator’s of this event in Bec Ladds, Nicole, Harry and Hummers who did a great job of bringing it all together and thanks also to Kim Fawcett who did a great job of selling the tickets in which only 4 were left over and Andy Smith who did the music on the night. Also good job to all who worked and contributed on the event and on the night. Congratulations to Toby Bayne and Tony Vagg the winners of the major $5,000 prize. Next Cat I will talk more about the Junior structure going forward and developments in the West division. GO CATS! Flowzie SENIOR COACHES REPORT SHANNAN TONER Today we find ourselves back at home after a couple of poor losses at the hands of the Dusties and Poowong. The senior group will need to rally together over the final third of the season as a finals berth is still a possibility, and understand that commitment to training and to one another is the only way to produce a more consistent effort come game day and to enable us to compete against the top sides. Congratulations to Lachy Volpe on playing his first senior game for the club against Poowong. Todays game against top of the table Longwarry is sure to be a very tough encounter for us, one in which we are looking to redeem ourselves after being soundly beaten by them the first time around, and it’s a game that we will need to be at our very best in order to be competitive over the 4 quarters. Best of luck to both teams and GO CATS! SECONDS REPORT MATT CUMMO Gidday All A very ordinary effort from the two's last week against Poowong, they wanted it more than us on the day - it was as simple as that. Puts us right under the pump now to knock off Longwarry and Buln Buln to play finals this season. We were short of numbers last week. Thanks to the thirds boys for helping out, it was a tough day for two games considering the conditions. I am sure today will be a much better effort from the boys. Good luck to all sides today and let's have some big wins. Go Cats! Hummers CONGRATULATIONS To Steven and Amy Heath on the birth of their baby boy Hudson! Another future player for our Club. THIRDS REPORT DARREN ‘RATS’ RATTEN Hello everybody. It's been a good couple of weeks of late. With a few boys injured and away etc it's really good to see fourths players stepping up to play and the boys still playing well as a team. Continue the good work boys. Also congratulations to Charlie Thoms and Ash Locket on playing in the interleague carnival on Wednesday. Good luck everybody and… Go Cats!! RATS Cat-ur-day Night 7:30 Clubrooms ~ Be there Come as anything “Cat” related. Plenty of drinks, dancing and good times to be had. From 7.30pm with a few games to keep the night entertaining! FOURTHS REPORT MARK ‘Ned’ PINKERTON No game against Poowong last week, so we should all be refreshed and ready to go today against Longwarry. A great test to see where we sit. The week before we played the Dusties and had a great win. Probably one of my best coaching efforts. PS: Much better effort from Aidy, limited himself to two hot dogs last game. GO CATS! This is a photo of Cooper Clancy and Noah Glen from Neerim South Fourths who both played in the under 14 interleague carnival at Casey Fields this week. In a game played in gale force winds, the EDFL team were beaten by 7 points by South East Juniors Interleague team. A great experience for these young budding footballers. Well done boys! FIFTHS REPORT JOHN ‘ROO’ LADDS After playing their best game of the season against Dusties a fortnight ago in which everyone contributed a great 'team' effort, it was left to the usual 4 or 5 who kept us in the game last week against Poowong. The seed was sown last Thursday when out of a possible 28 players only 14 trained, of the 14 that didn't train only 4notified me that they couldn't attend. If that wasn't infuriating enough, on the Saturday, one had to borrow footy gear and another wore the wrong socks. To top it off, once they realised that Poowong were playing their 4 overage players, a negative attitude reverberated through the group. I spoke strongly and honestly to the group at half time and in the rooms after the game and hopefully a different attitude will be noticed by onlookers this week. They have a great opportunity of playing finals this year, but if they approach the next 6 weeks with same attitude as last week, it will quickly diminish. On a brighter note, it was pleasing to see so many senior players watching the game against Dusties. And when they came into the rooms after the game and stood on the seats while we sang the club song, I can say sincerely that was one of the highlights of my life. I will remember that moment forever and I hope that some of the boys do as well. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and if we make it to finals, I for one will be utterly rapt if you make the effort to come and support us. Good luck to one and all.
