Work closely with campus-wide offices including the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Admissions, the Office of Inclusion and Diversity, Veterans Resource Center, the Office of International Education, the Office of Undergraduate Research, Residence Life, the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost, Army, Navy and Air Force ROTC, deans, department chairs, and the Athletics Department in an effort to strengthen our partnership and further the mission of the Honors College. Organize campus-wide as well as college and departmental scholarship information sessions. Assist in the recruitment of prospective students. Serve as a Faculty-in-Residence responsible for evening advising and organizing the monthly educational and cultural activities in the university’s largest Honors residence hall. Recruit faculty to teach in the Honors College. Develop and teach Honors level courses and serve as Honors Thesis advisor. Serve as the Honors College representative on a variety of campus-wide standing and ad hoc committees. Serve as the faculty advisor for Squires – the sophomore honor society. Augusta State University The ASU Center for Immigration Studies was established in the spring of 2006 with a mission to highlight and examine the impact that immigration – both historically and at present – has had upon the State and region. The Center sponsors guest lectures, symposia and film screenings which underscore the challenges and opportunities that accompany large-scale immigration to the State, region and country. 6) External Funding: Project Title and Description: The Georgia Latino Acculturation Study - $20,000.00 A collaborative project with faculty researchers at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, Appalachian State University, North Carolina, and The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The study examined the experiences of Georgia’s burgeoning Latino/a population in three general areas: 1) the aspirations they have for themselves and their families; 2) how they view their economic, social and psychological condition; and 3) the extent to which they feel a part of Georgia and U.S. society. Volkswagen Foundation, Hannover, Germany (co-principal investigator) - $250,000.00 Project Title and Description: A Transnational Diaspora in the Making? Russian Speaking Jews in Israel, Germany and the United States. May 2003- May 2006. Collaborative project in cooperation with The Moses Mendelssohn Center for European Jewish Studies at The University of Potsdam, Germany, The Department of Sociology, The University of Tel Aviv, Israel, and The Department of Psychology, The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
