The Haselbury Plucknett Charities Registered Charity No 201573 Who we are North The Haselbury Charities have a small fund with a very small annual income. They are an Village News Perrott amalgamation of three old charities, the Mary Ann Woods, the Henry Parsons and the Mary Mountford Charities. These were founded to support the poor, the elderly and the Haselbury sick of the parish, and to help fund education or tools for work for young people. With low Plucknett APRIL 2016 interest rates, we now have only a small amount to give out each year. We still aim to give grants where the need is greatest and we will consider all applications. For example, if you are struggling to pay heating bills or travel costs for hospital appointments, you may wish to apply for a small subsidy. Applicants can contact the Correspondent to the Trustees in The Big Lunch Sunday 12th June strict confidence at Haselbury Plucknett Charities, c/o Stonehayes, Haselbury Plucknett, TA18 7PH or on 01460 73141. Matthew 28: 18-19 Church Electoral Roll Officer Margaret Barnes 0146074758/73147 February 2016 HASELBURY PLUCKNETT Hope says writer Rebecca Solnit is not like a lottery ticket you can sit on the sofa and clutch, feeling lucky...hope is an axe you break down doors with in an emergency. Hope just means another world might be possible, MAY FAIR not promised, not guaranteed. When we face the enormous challenges that th we do, both abroad, here at home and in the struggles of our own lives, it Saturday 14 May 2016 is hope born in our imaginations and hearts that will sustain and nourish our faith in different possibilities for people to live together without fear or hatred. To live life in all its fullness, said Jesus. For Christians the source of such hope remains the extraordinary events that make up the season of Easter, where an apparently hopeless situation was transformed in the imaginations, hearts and lives of 12noon to 4pm those who thought all was lost by the unexpected encounter with the One who they at thought had gone forever and whose dream had gone with Him, nailed to a cross by the Empire of the day. Haselbury Plucknett First The unexpected and barely understood event that we call the resurrection, rekindled hope that had been seemingly buried in the tomb of Gethsemane. And ever since, men School and women through the ages have discovered the transforming power of that hope in their lives; sometimes revealed through gestures of service and help; other times through brave refusals to remain locked in tombs of despair and helplessness. Sometimes FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY through small apparently insignificant actions, other times in joining together with others in finding new ways of living. In the face of impossible situations, hope makes the present bearable and the future possible and full The Rev Jonathan Morris of surprises. 01460 72356 [email protected] *RAFFLE At Easter a new power was released in the world, inviting us to reimagine ourselves and in so doing give birth to Reader: *CHOCOLATE TOMBOLA* BBQ* new possibilities - as we step out in hope.
