At the conclusion of each session, the employees were given an evaluation worksheet to complete to describe what they learned. Copies of the worksheets are attached. The intent of the evaluation was to determine if employees’ awareness was raised (Outcome level 2) and if possible, determine if employees plan to change their behavior in their job or at home because of the training (Outcome level 3). Evaluation Results June 23, 2011 – City Project Managers and Inspectors Training Objective: Learn more about the new Construction General Permit and impacts to City construction projects Guest speaker: Sandy Mathews, Larry Walker Associates, Chair of CASQA Construction Subcommittee Total Attendance: 12 (see attached sign in sheet) Number of attendees who completed/submitted evaluation worksheet: 11 (92%) Summary of responses: 1. Did you learn anything new from this training? Yes: 11 (100%) Representative explanations: After Sept 2, 2011, all construction sites in Folsom will be risk 2 or 3 due to American River receiving water; Dates for CGP grandfathering to expire/risk determinations will change; application of CGP to linear projects; items to include in consultant RFPs and City project bids and specifications to ensure CGP compliance; new on‐line sources for tools to assist with assessing risk. 2. Can you use any of the information/suggestions provided in this training to change the way you do something in your job/on your projects to protect the environment? Yes: 11 (100%) Representative explanations: The need to specify requirements for CGP compliance in bid and contract documents/how to properly write the specs; TSS sampling requirements for CGP compliance; ways to improve SWPPPs for City projects; previous practices must now be modified. 3. Do you understand how the State’s Construction General Permit would apply to one or more of the current or future projects you are (will be) working on? Yes: 11 (100%) June 24 Maintenance Crew Training Training Objective: Annual refresher of 8 BMPs for every City job, proper selection/installation, need for maintenance; video: The Cycle of Insanity by the Surfrider Foundation (total water cycle management) Total Attendance: 47 (managers, lead workers, supervisors and crew members, representing three departments and numerous divisions)‐ see attached sign in sheet Number of attendees who completed/submitted evaluation worksheet: 30 (64%) Summary of responses: 1. Did you learn anything new from this training? Yes: 21 (70%) Representative explanations: The planters at the parking garage are stormwater features (bioretention); make sure that all drivers clean their trucks at Corp Yard wash rack; Blue Thumb program; integrated water management; pervious pavement; 1 in 4 rivers no longer flow to the ocean; new reporting information for observed problems in the field; 2. Can you use any of the information/suggestions provided in this training to change the way you do something in your job to protect the environment? Yes: 19 (63%) Representative explanations: Improve BMP maintenance; use less water during routine activities; be more aware of job site conditions; report observations of water being wasted; hand out the courtesy notice when problems are observed; do a better job of protecting drain inlets; use more efficient irrigations practices; difference between dry and wet cutting of concrete. 3. Can you use any of the information/suggestions provided in this training to change the way you do something in and around your home to protect the environment? Yes: 18 (60%) Representative explanations: Rain barrels; gray water systems; water recycling; compost yard and home/food waste; time watering in shorter increments to avoid runoff; grasscycling; use leaves for mulch; reduce/reuse/recycle water.
