Hyderabad Society of North Texas The event was well organised and took place at Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, TX. The evening started with Celebrated Annual Event welcoming the guests by Mohammed Abdul Hameed, Vice President HSNT followed by Quran recitation and “Shaam-e-Hyderabad” translation by Asim Siddiquiand. Mrs Rahat Arifuddin, President HSNT addressed the audience. Community Service Award was presented to Syed Mazhar Hussaini of SEED, who is working tremendously to help needy in India. SEED is working to reduce pov- erty, to improve quality of life and to promote economic development by providing opportunities for underprivi- leged children and adults in the economically backward areas in India. Mr. Mohammed Hameed, Vice-President has been like a back bone of this organization for past years and puts countless hours working behind the scenes. HSNT was established in 1992 by well-known commu- nity leader and physician, Dr. Basheer Ahmed and has been a non-profit organization since 2006. The purpose of HSNT is to help the local DFW Hyderabadis get together to have fun and to keep our Hyderabadi culture alive. HSNT has two main events. The first one is a picnic during the spring season which is held at a local DFW park. This is an informal event which usually attracts 250 to 300 people. Included with kite flying, games for children of all ages,delicious food and music. The second event of the year is a formal evening dinner which usual- ly takes place in November or December with numerous forms of entertainment such as music, songs, comedy in Hyderabadi lingo and of course, Hyderabadi cuisine.
