Named 2012-2013 ACC Business Partner of the Year Glen Raven was recognized for its extensive record of donations to the ACC Foundation, the partnership it has maintained over the years for ACC to provide in-plant and other specialized training for the company’s employees, and its focus on literacy. Two members of Glen Raven’s senior staff serve in leadership positions for ACC: Sue Rich serves as President of the ACC Foundation and Derek Steed serves as a member of the ACC Board of Trustees. McBane retired from Kernodle Clinic as Supervisor 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 of Nursing, Internal Medicine Department in 1993 after 31 years of service. At that time, the Clinic and its employees established the Audrey K. McBane Nursing Scholarship in her honor. Mrs. 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 McBane passed away in the spring of 2011. A native of Alamance County, MLK, Jr. Day she was the wife of 57 years to George L. McBane, who passed away in College Closed March 2013. Through his estate, Mr. McBane has added significantly to the scholarship. Thank you, Aiderling Al UMNI RECOGNITION 2013 ACC Distinguished Alumnus Jesse Long (right) with John G. Currin Jr., President and CEO of ARMC and a member of the ACCF Board of Directors. 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Jesse Long was named the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus. He is a 1966 February 2014 graduate of ACC with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. After graduating, Jesse worked at LabCorp for 28 years. Jesse then joined Alamance Regional Medical Center as Chief Information Officer. During that Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday time ARMC was recognized as Microsoft’s Hospital of the Year in 2005 and was named one of the top heath care users of information technology in the nation, according to the 2012 Most Wired Survey. Jesse has been active in community organizations including the Alamance Breakfast 1 Rotary Club and the United Way. He is retired from ARMC. 2013 Inspiration Award Recipient Roy Dawson was named the 2013 Inspiration Award recipient. Roy earned his GED at ACC in night classes while financially supporting his family. While earning his associate’s degree 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 at ACC, he took care of a family Groundhog Day member with a critical health issue, served as an officer in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and was accepted into the Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP). 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Transferring to UNC Chapel Hill, Valentine’s Day he served as a peer mentor and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.
