City tour, transfer to the hotel. Hotel check in time is 15:00. Tbilisi city tour includes: visit to the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi (Sameba), Narikala Fortress by an aerial cable car from Rike Park , walking in LegvtaKhevi canyon towards the waterfall, Sulfur bathhouses, the Shardeni and king Erekle II streets, the glass Bridge of Peace and the Georgian National Museum. The museum preserves national heritage and presents rich archaeological, numismatic, ethnographic and contemporary art collections. Overnight in Tbilisi. DAY 2: TBILISI - GORI - UPLISTSIKHE - MTSKHETA - TBILISI 09:00 am is recommended time to start a tour. After breakfast guide will meet you at the hotel and drive to the ancient cave complex of Uplistsikhe, “The Lord’s Fortress”. Uplistsikhe was town of worship on the caravan’s trade route from 1st millennium until 4th c. The ruins of this oldest urban settlements revile districts of wealthy and poor people, marketplaces, main and back streets, temples, escape tunnels and even the theater from Roman’s period carved in the sandstone rocks. Next site is Samtavisi village. The archaeological excavations near the 12th c cathedral are discovered in 2007. The Grakliani Hill archaeological excavation shows the evidence of human presence going back about 300,000 years. Kolkhi’s Ezo winery in the village Chardakhi is arranged for lunch. Second half of the day will be dedicated to Mtskheta. Located on the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Mtskheta used to be the capital of the Eastern Georgian kingdom of Iberia from the 4th c. BC until the 5th c. AD. Town is included in UNESCO World Heritage Site list: today visit Armaziskhevi Archaeological Site, Svetitskhoveli Cathedral of 11th century, and Jvari Monastery, built in the 6th c. There is a tiny nunnery behind the cathedral, named Antiochia; such a touching is this naïve architecture! a part of this charming basilica was built in 4th c. In the evening return back to Tbilisi Overnight in Tbilisi. DAY 3: TBILISI - DMANISI - BOLNISI - TBILISI Today we drive to the South Georgia, the unique archaeological site Dmanisi, where excavations revealed the earliest hominid dispersal beyond Africa continent. About 2 h drive and we are in the river Mashavera gorge. Dmanisi SiOni (7th c.), fortress (10th c), the ruins of the royal palace and the archaeological site are located in fertile, green area of Lower Kartli. Enjoy the picnic in the nature. Next, drive to Bolnisi - the small town, where one of the oldest Georgian inscriptions are preserved on the walls of Bolnisi SiOni (4th c). Visit Bolnisi archaeological museum - very interesting collection. Museum offers ethnographical and historical objects since early humans’ life. In the evening arrive in Tbilisi for overnight. DAY 4: TRANSFER TO TBILISI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Breakfast at the hotel. Check out until 12:00. Transfer to the Airport for departure. We wish you to be your host again in Georgia.
