day wave headcase album free download Day Wave Headcase / Hard To Read. This vinyl LP and CD from Fat Possum records combines Day Wave's new EP, Hard to Read , with last years Headcase EP as well. Both releases are intimate and lo-fi synth pop experiments, that borrow equally from confident west coast music and introspective bedroom rock. Warm synths and chiming guitars are used to create something both upbeat and sad at the same time. Limited Vinyl LP FP1548-1 / 305729. Limited coloured vinyl LP on Fat Possum. From the first bit of jangle this promises to do everything the latest Wild Nothing didn’t. Namely fantastic tunes over simple homespun dream pop production. Opener ‘Nothing At All’ sounds like an indie classic in the making - a fantastic and instantly gratifying melody is both charming and tuneful and the mixture of synths and pop is exactly the kind New Order blueprinted on ‘Technique’. Further investigation hits home the real influence Ben Gibbard has had over a lot of bedroom pop, his sighing vocals seem to be everywhere at the moment particularly here on ‘Drag’ which is chirpier than anything Gibbard has put his name to. It has a big pop chorus that shows that the band aren’t content to tryu to recreate that ’88 Sarah Records sound. At times it sounds like FM Cornog has been taken under Simon Cowell's wing. All the stuff you like about indie is here - terribly drum machines, sponging guitars, Peter Hook basslines but it seems at times like Day Wave are going to finally monetize them by adding in the sort of melodies that could snag lapsed One Directioners. And that to me is the albums only problem - its just a little too Owl City in terms of those blinding obvious melodies but very tuneful. Day Wave Headcase / Hard To Read (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP. Jackson Phillips is the dude behind Day Wave, and his first two EPs have been pressed on limited-edition white vinyl. Phillips's breezy indie pop sound came to light on his 2015 debut Headcase , which garnered a lot of buzz and thrusted the artist into the festival circuit. He followed up with Hard to Read , a 2016 5-tracker which Phillips himself wrote, recorded (direct to tape), mixed, and mastered. Warm, breezy, and vibrant, Phillips's songs have a soothing quality to them, and his reverbed vocals sit well with shimmery synths, guitars, and upbeat drums. Highlights: "Gone," "Stuck," "Deadbeat Girl," "Drag," "We Try but We Don't Fit In," and "Total Zombie." Stream Top Podcasts. If you can never get enough true crime. I’m Glennon Doyle, author of Untamed – the book that was released at the very start of the pandemic and became a lifeline for millions. I watched in awe from my home while this simple phrase from Untamed – WE CAN DO HARD THINGS – the mantra that saved my life twenty years ago, became a worldwide rally cry. Because we experienced the hardship of the pandemic collectively, many of us finally acknowledged what was true before COVID and will be true after: That life is freaking HARD. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, my sister Amanda and I will do the only thing I’ve found that has ever made life easier: We will drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard. Each week we will bring our hard to you and we will ask you to bring your hard to us and we will do what we were all meant to do down here: Help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, more free and less alone. Lyrics Nothing at All. So what am I good for Besides trying to have fun? I do whatever I want But I still want more If I do whatever I want Why am I still bored? What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore Spent my days alone Lost in my head Everyone's upset I still have no girl After all this time I say, fuck the world After all this time What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore What am I good for? Nothing at all What am I good for? Nothing at all What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore What am I good for? Somebody tell me Cause I don't know anymore. Music Monday (7/20): This Week's New Albums + Videos.
