Spooner served as interim head coach in 2012, and was promoted to head coach in the summer of 2013. A former goalkeeper in college, Spooner has worked mainly with the San Jac keepers, continuing the tradition of excellence of past San Jacinto College goalies. Spooner spent the 2005-06 season as the assistant coach at Cumberland University of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). He holds a United States Soccer Federation National “C” Coaching License. He has spent the last two and a half years working for the Challenge Soccer Club, and the previous four years as a professional staff coach for Space City Soccer Club. Spooner hails from Houston, but played collegiately at Western Michigan University from 2001-2005.
