TODAY’S ANNOUNCEMENTS Thursday April 29, 2021 NORSE HAPPENINGS- Northfield's English Department will be selling Nelson's chicken from 4:00-6:30 on May 12 in the east parking lot. Advance tickets may be purchased from any English student or teacher! All proceeds go toward replacing worn-out classroom novels. Students, Are interested in taking any summer school courses? Now is the time to sign up! The cost is $50 per credit hour course. Deadline to sign up is June 4th. Remember: -All summer school classes must be approved by the principal and guidance counselor -Classes are only approved if they are not offered at NHS or it will not fit in your schedule during the school day Please see the email from Mrs. Michel for more information. NHS Robotics call outs are from now until May 7th. NHS robotics utilizes VEX robotics components to Build, Program, robots that can be remotely controlled or run automatically to perform tasks to complete a national challenge. Meets are held through the winter months all over the state with Practices starting at the beginning of the school year in August 2021. Teams are made of approximately three students per team and that team works to design, build, program, and improve their robot through the season in effort to make it to the World finals in April. [email protected] Northfield will be hosting a blood drive Thursday May 6, 8:00am- 1:00pm! ALL are welcome: students, parents, and people from the community - so tell your friends! You can go to the link below to sign up! https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time If you are donating blood on May 6 and are 16 years old, please stop by Mrs. LeMaster's room for a parental permission form. It must be completed for the day of the drive. SPORTS INFO- Are you interested in Junior high cheerleading? For more information about tryouts click on the link below. Tryouts will be May 10th from 5-7pm. This will be for interested 6th & 7th Graders https://band.us/n/a7aa54NfsfQ3D Congratulations to Tackett Auto Detailing and Arklight Historical Tours for finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Innovate Within Pitch Contest. Heath Tackett is the owner of Tackett Auto Detailing and the group of Keaton Stout, Ethan Galbraith, Clay Herring and Ben Kissel are from Arklight Historical Tours. Heath was able to pick up $1,500 for his business and the Arklight group was able to pick up $1,000 for their business. Northfield was just represented by just two teams and there were 17 teams all together. If anyone has an interest in competing in the contest next year, please see Mr. Bahney. By the way Manchester University offered a $500 scholarship to attend Manchester University for just presenting your Business Idea. That $500 is good for 4 years or $2,000 total Northfield High School Girls Varsity Tennis beat Southwood High School 1-0 Northfield’s #1 doubles team of Autumn Custer and Annie Schuler took on Southwood’s #1 doubles team and won in commanding fashion 6-0 6-1. Next match is Friday at Adams Central. Northfield High School Varsity Softball falls to Maconaquah High School 8-7 Lady Norse forgot to show up the first 2 innings and gave up 7 runs before batting back to drop a conference game. Abigail Hunter battled through for a complete game. She scattered 5 hits over 7 innings Addi Baker led the offensive attack going 3-4 with 2 RBIS and 2 runs scored. Crysta Kowalczuk was 2-4 The Norse JV baseball team fell 11-21, to the Wildcats of Whitko. Leading the Northfield offense was Reece Rosen with a double, a single, and 3 RBI. Also tacking on points were Justin Nelson (a double and a single), Noah Burkhart ( a double), and Dylan Osborn; each adding 2 runs a piece. Pitching for the Norse was Jayden Truman with 55 strikes thrown on 93 pitches, Justin Nelson with only 6 hits allowed on 75 pitches, and Cody Copeland closing the evening out. The Norse next will host North Miami on Thursday, April 29 at 5:00. Norse loose second conference game to Maconaquah 11-10. Snyder stays hot, going 3 for 4 with a homerun and 3 RBI. TONIGHT’S SPORTS- 4:30pm Golf (V/JV Boys) against Rochester @ Home 5pm Baseball (JV) against North Miami @ Home 5pm Softball (V) against Marion @ Home TODAYS LUNCH- Italian Beef Calzone, California Blend Vegetables, Tossed Salad w/Dressing, Assorted fruit, Ice Cold Milk The salad bar will be open today! TOMORROWS BREAKFAST- Breakfast Bread, Assorted Fruit, 100% Fruit Juice, Ice Cold Milk .
