Bhadratha INTRODUCTION ON TS WELFARE In a disciplined force like Police which is on guard 24 hours a day and 365 days a year the welfare of the men and their families has direct bearing on the morale and efficiency of the force. Ever increasing work load, negligible pay and extreme stressful conditions plague the present day Police. To mitigate these sufferings and improve the conditions of the Police personnel, the Telangana State Police has designed a number of welfare measures. 3 v A full-fledged Welfare Division at Police Head Quarters, under the direct control of Inspector General of Police, handles and co- ordinates various welfare activities carried out under the auspices of T.S. State Police Welfare Society, for which the DGP is the President. v The Society initiates and undertakes all social and economic welfare measures aimed at ameliorating the conditions of members of the TS Police and their families, to afford relief in all deserving cases where such help is not forthcoming from other Government and Non-Government agencies. 4 v The following are the Non-Government funds being maintained under TS Police Welfare 1. Telangana Police Welfare Fund ü Marriage Loans, Medical Loans 2. Telangana Police Education Fund ü Merit Scholarship ü Meritorious Scholarship and ü Education Loans 3. Telangana Police Widow Fund ü Corpus Amount to the Widow of the deceased. Welfare Fund § Receives Rs.100 lakhs as annual grant from the Government, rents on shopping complexes and interest on F.Ds § The Fund is used for extending interest free loans to non gazetted Police Officers and Ministerial staff for Medical, Marriage, Education and other contingencies § Assistance given by way of loan/grant to Units / Districts/Battalions for construction of Police Guest House / Kalyanmandapams / Dormitories / LPG Godown / Canteen / Consumer stores / Tailoring centers / Computer centers / Cable network / Libraries / Children parks / Gymnasium 6 Marriage Loan : Daughter Rs.3,00, 000/- Son Rs.1,00,000/- Self for Men Rs.1,50,000/- for Women Rs.2,00,000/- Dependent sister Rs.1,00, 000/- Medical Loan: The loans on medical grounds are sanctioned to the extent of Rs.50,000/- and Rs 1,00,000 in case of exceptional cases only if the officer or his dependent family members suffers from a disease of a grave nature and reimbursement facilities are not available under the Government rules. 7 Education Fund Contributions – Rs 30/- per month - PC to ASI / ministerial staff upto Sr.Asst /Class-IV employees - Rs 50/- per month – SI /CI / Supdts. & equivalent ranks Educational Loans : The interest free Education loan limits are indicated below: Professional Study in Rank Graduation Courses Abroad Upto Inspector and 25,000 50,000 1,50,000 Supdt ranks 8 Merit Scholarship Merit Scholarships are being sanctioned to the children from the rank of PC to Inspector and Class-IV to Supdt level officers who secure highest percentage of Marks as detailed below Name of the Course Eligible % of Marks Eligible Amount 75 % - 79 % 4,000 SSC 80 % - 89 % 5,000 90 % - 100 % 6,000 75 % - 79 % 5,000 Inter 80 % - 89 % 6,000 90 % - 100 % 7,000 Degree(B.A., B.Com, B.Sc.) 75 % - 79 % 6,000 PG (MSc.), M.Ed., M.Com, M.A., 80 % - 89 % 7,000 Physiotherapy. 90 % - 100 % 8,000 Professional courses 60 % - 74 % 7,000 (BE/BCA/BBA/BBM/B.Tech/ 75 % - 79 % 9,000 MBA/MCA/M.Tech)/ 80 % - 89 % 12,000 Polytech(after completion of the 90 % - 100 % 14,000 course). FLAG FUND To organise various programmes in connection with Police Commemoration Day i.e. to hold parades and conduct commemoration week programmes, to instal hoardings, banners, to conduct competitions, etc. v To construct Martyrs Memorials and any other similar forms of Police Commemoration. v To provide artificial limbs, hearing aids etc. to Police personnel injured in accidents, violence in discharge of their duties. v For reimbursement of tuition fee to the children of Police personnel of the ranks PC/HC/ASI, from Class-I to Post-graduation courses in all recognized institutions(Govt. & private). v Sanction of marriage grant of Rs. 50,000/- up to two daughters in each family of Police personnel, who had died or was medically invalidated due to the injuries sustained, while on duty and in service. v Sanction of Rs. 12,000/- per annum to each of the orphan children staying in Police Boys Hostel at Amberpet, Hyderabad towards tuition fee for Class-I to XII (Intermediate) v Sanction of Rs. 10,000/- towards incidental charges to the family of the deceased Police personnel up to the rank of HC/ASI for any kind of death while in service. v Sanction of Rs. 5,000/- towards incidental charges to the family of Home Guards for any kind of death while in service. Education: Free education to the children in TS Residential Schools/ Jr.Colleges. 2% seats reserved in Engineering Courses for children on par with Armed Forces, CRPF and BSF. 0.25% reservation to the children of deceased in MBBS/ BDS courses. v Medical facilities to the family members on par with serving Govt. employee. v Arogya Bhadratha coverage to the widow. v 75% concession to the widow in train fare in second class. v Free Bus pass facility to the widow/ dependent and one attendant in all types of buses in TSRTC. v Lumpsum grant of corpus amount of Rs.80,000/- to the widow of the Martyr. Due to irregular timings, professional hazards, stressful job, policemen get into serious health problems. Sometimes they have to undergo major surgeries and suffer from serious diseases of heart, kidney and cancer. Many times they are not in a position to get treatment in good hospitals and clear the bills. They are put to great mental and physical stress when they get into serious health problems.
