From their formation in 1969 until 1980 they released 13 studio albums, the rst in June 1970. And they are still performing today. The band’s origins actually date back to 1967 when teenage guitarist Mick Box formed The Stalkers. Box is the only founder member in the current line-up. Original lead vocalist David Byron died in 1985 aged only 38. Original bass player John Wetton went on to join other bands, and is still active. He was replaced by Trevor Bolder in 1976 who left in 1981 to ll in for Martin Turner with the legendary Wishbone Ash, and can be seen in their 1983 Marquee concert; he returned to Uriah Heep later that same year and stayed with the band until his death in May 2013. Uriah Heep are currently on tour in Germany, and they have a new release of “Obscure Re- Recordings”. This anthology includes Lady In Black, which was covered by Blackmore’s Night, and 26 other tracks which constitute the essential Uriah Heep.
