This is NOT the actual order of competitions for that day. The committee reserves the right to change this tentative schedule at any time based on entries, etc. In addition, a more specific schedule -- by time of day -- will be published once entries have been received and reviewed. Page 2 of 14 ENTRIES • Entries will be accepted online starting April 1st, 2020 from teachers who are members in good standing of An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha, and their national and regional organizations. • Entry Deadline: May 1st, 2020 • Online entries: www.Quickfeis.com by teachers or their appointed representatives only. Individual submissions from parents or dancers will not be accepted. • All entries must be complete and contain all requested information and all fees. • The Registration Fee of $50 per family will be added to all entries. TCRG & TMRF registering their legal children and who have a "teacher" account with QuickFeis will be exempt from paying this fee. • ALL payments by credit card only and only in United States funds. There will be an additional 4.5% transaction fee on the total owed. • LATE FEES: o Entries submitted after May 1st, 2020 but received on or before May 8th, 2020 will be accepted if accompanied by a late fee of USD $40.00 per competitor or team. o Entries received after May 8th, 2020 will be refused and returned. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. o No changes will be made after May 15th, 2020. Should there be an extenuating circumstance after May 15th, changes, if approved, will be made up to the day of the championships with a US $100.00 fee per change. Amount ENTRY FEES Notes (all in US $) SOLO $ 65 Per competitor TEAMS $ 15 Per competitor, per team TRADITIONAL SET $ 25 Per competitor REGISTRATION FEE $ 50 Per family All children in a family pay full Family Maximum fees for all events entered up the $ 225 to family maximum of $225 (Not including REGISTRATION FEE) The Registration Fee is NOT included in the family max LATE ENTRY FEE Per competitor or Per team (after May 1 Before May 8) $ 40 LATE CHANGE FEE Per dancer (Any change after May 15) $ 100 NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON Page 3 of 14 PROOF OF DANCER AGE • IMPORTANT: ALL schools will be required to send authorized proof of date of birth for each competitor entered WHO HAS NOT COMPETED AT ANY NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP since the data collection began in 2011 (i.e. copy of passport, driver’s license, state ID, or birth certificate). • Please black out all non-pertinent information from Proof of Age documents and leave only the name and birth date visible. • Proof of age documents must be postmarked on or before May 8, 2020. • Mailing Address for birth certificates: Mary Kay Heneghan 7 Falconcrest Lane Orchard Park, NY 14127 USA Certified or Signature Required mail will NOT be accepted • Age Determination: o A competitor’s age will be determined as of January 1st, 2020. o All solo competitors must compete in their own age group. • ADULT Dancers: o ALL dancers over 18 will have to identify themselves as either "QUALIFYING COMPETITIVE" (QC) dancers or "ADULT" dancers. Only QC dancers may enter SOLO competitions. By default, all new QuickFeis account dancers are marked as QC – so dancers who are not QC must change their level to ADULT. QC dancers are not allowed to enter any ADULT competitions. o The minimum age for ADULT ceili is 18 years. Such adults may not have competed dancing in solo or ceili dancing for at least five (5) years. [Per IDTANA Rule passed July 1992]. • Team Ages o Dancers in team competitions may compete in their own age group or higher, but they may NOT compete in an age group lower than their actual age. o Girls MAY compete in both girls’ ceili and mixed ceili competitions in the same age group. o At least 50% of each team must be competing in the proper age group. o 25% of each team may repeat from the immediate younger age group, and may do so only once in each event, i.e. once in Girls’ Ceili and once in Mixed Ceili. Page 4 of 14 SOLO CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFICATION RULES • The qualifications for the North American Championships consist of four (4) opportunities: 1. All open championship dancers at feiseanna. 2. All under 8 and under 9 dancers can be entered at the discretion of their teachers, but are not considered qualifiers. 3. All 10 year old dancers and older must qualify at their regional Oireachtas. 4. The top ten (10) dancers plus 25% of the competition at the regional Oireachtas in each age category will qualify, subject to recall at that Oireachtas. (7/2010) (amended at the Mini Convention 2/2017). • Please see important note regarding proof of date of birth submission located under “PROOF OF DANCER AGE" section. • Recalled dancers from the previous year’s championship are NOT automatically qualified. [Per IDTANA rule passed July 2010] • Preliminary dancers who achieve their required first place wins by May 1st, 2020 and opt to enter based on Rule 1 (above), must enter all future feiseanna as an Open Championship dancer. [Per IDTANA rule passed July 2006] • Qualified pupils of a hired adjudicator may defer their qualification to the following year’s event. [Per IDTANA rule passed July 2006] MUSIC • Official musicians will play for all solo and ceili events. • Reel/Jig - 48 bars must be performed. • Slip Jig/Hornpipe - 40 bars must be performed. • For solo competitions, musicians will play 8 bars of introduction and then 40 bars of slip jigs/hornpipes or 48 bars of reels/treble jigs only. • Dancers must start after the 8 bar intro and dance for full 40 bars of slip jig/hornpipe or 48 bars of reels/treble jigs. • Set dances will be played with step introduction then right & left of the step, followed by the set on the right foot only. • Dancers will not be permitted to dance beyond the end of the allotted music. • 16 bars of music will be played by the musicians prior to the commencement of each of the first two rounds of each solo championship. (Per IDTANA Rule passed July 2016) • Speeds: o Speeds for all dances in solo events will be in accordance with officially recognized speeds as set forth by An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha. o Metronomes will be in use at each stage. o Dancers MAY NOT use their own metronome. Page 5 of 14 SOLO DANCING RULES • Adjudication: There will be rotating panels of five adjudicators. The highest and lowest scores will be dropped for each round. • Splits: Where the number of entries reaches 150 or more, the competition will be divided into an A and B split. The method for splitting competitions will be as follows: the competitors will be randomized. Tabulators will apply the current parameters and then the competition is split in half. [Per IDTANA rule passed June 2015] • Rotations: o The draw for starting numbers will be done randomly by computer and posted. o Dancers must follow the rotation as listed in the official program book. o The starting number for Round 2 will be 1/3 of the competition added to the first round’s starting number. o The starting number for Round 3 will be 1/3 of the competition added to the second round starting number. SOLO ROUND 1 – HARD SHOE – Treble Jig or Horn Pipe • Solo Championships will commence with the hard shoe round followed by the soft shoe round. Dances will be as stipulated in the syllabus. • For U8-U15, dancers will perform the first round (hard shoe) three at a time. In all other age groups, dancers will perform the first round (hard shoe) two at a time. SOLO ROUND 2 – SOFT SHOE – Reel or Slip Jig • For all age groups, dancers will perform the second round (light shoe) two at a time. SOLO ROUND 3 – RECALLS • Competitors who are recalled to the third round will perform a set dance of their own choice from the official list of set dances. • ALL recalled competitors will dancer their set dance ONE at a time. • Set dances will be played with step introduction then right & left of the step, followed by the set on the right foot only. • The recall round at the NAIDC shall be a set dance of Traditional Set Speed the dancer’s choice except for: The Under 8 and Under 9 age groups which shall be a traditional set Blackbird 144 of their choosing and the Under 10 age groups which Garden of Daisies 138 shall be a set dance in 6/8 or 9/8 time signature.
