Unfortunately, a poor third quarter and start of the W L GBL 1. STORM 19 10 --- fourth period proved disastrous as the Storm lost 2. Halifax 17 12 2 107-110. The Storm led 50-48 at halftime. In the 3. St. John 15 14 4 third quarter the Rainmen led by four with 5:12 left 4. Moncton 7 20 11 in the period. They then went on a 6-0 run to increase their lead to 10 with 4:40 left in the third. They would increase their lead to 12 (83-71) after the third period. Halifax led by 18 points (94-76) with 8:50 left in the game. With 4:31 left, the Storm had brought the deficit down to three (95-98) after Billy Rush sank a three. Halifax would bring the lead up to 12 (109-97) with 0:49 left to go. Although the Storm would out-score the Rainmen 10-1 the rest of the way, they would lose their third home game of the year……The Storm lead the Atlantic Division by two games over the Rainmen with each team having three games left to play. The Storm plays the Mill Rats on Sunday, the Lightning on Monday and the Rainmen on Thursday. All three games are at home. Halifax will entertain the Mississauga Power on Saturday, host the Moncton Miracles on Sunday before their last game on Thursday in Charlottetown……The Storm record goes to 19-10 with a 10-3 record at Eastlink Centre. Their three home losses were against Brampton A’s (122-125, Dec. 5), Moncton Miracles (111-120, Jan. 25) and Thursday’s loss to Halifax (107-110). The Storm has lost two of their last three home games, after posting a seven-game home winning streak……The Storm is 4-4 in its last eight games…..This is the 19th game this season that the Storm has been involved in a game that was decided by less than 10 points. The Storm is 14-5 in such games…..The Storm led 50-48 at half. They have a 12-3 record (5-2 at home) when they lead at the break…….The Rainmen led 83-71 after three periods. The Storm is 7-9 when trailing heading into the last period……The Storm has scored 100 or more points in 23 of its 29 games. They are 17-6 in such games……The Storm shot 45.2% (38 for 84) while Halifax was 52.4% (43 for 82). It is the 12th game where the opposition has out-shot the Storm. The Storm is a dismal 3-9 in such games. The Storm is 4-4 when the opposition shoot at least 50%......The Rainmen out-rebounded the Storm 52-45. The Storm is 6-4 when the opposition has posted more rebounds…….For the 17th game this season, the Storm had more assists than the opposition (25-21). They are 14-3 in such games……For only the 10th time this year, the opposition has posted more turnovers than the Storm. The Storm is 7-3 in such games……..The Storm is 4-3 this season against the Rainmen. The Rainmen won the first game between the two. Then the Storm reeled off four wins in a row. Halifax has won the last two, January 18 (101-112) and February 19 (107-110). Foul-Line Woes The Storm was only 22 for 34 (64.7%) from the free throw line. They have missed 22 foul shots in the last two games (44 for 66 – 66.7%). The Storm has shot less than 70% from the charity stripe in nine games this season. They won the first seven such games, but have lost the last two. The 64.7% is the fourth lowest of the season. February Blues With the last two losses, the Storm’s record for February goes to 2-2. They have an all-time February record of 11-14. It is the only month that the Storm has more losses than wins. They are 20-19 in November, all-time, 18-15 in December, 22-15 in January and 6-2 in March. Islander Day Game Postponed For the eighth time in franchise history, the Storm had a game STORM POSTPONED GAMES postponed when the Islander Day 1011-12 game at home against the London None Lightning was postponed due to a 2012-13 raging snow blizzard. It was the ORIGINAL RESCHEDULED CAUSE first postponement of the season St. John at STORM 02/18/13 03/05/13 Weather for the Storm. Two of the last STORM at London 02/10/13 02/23/13 Weather three Islander Day games have had to be postponed with the February 2013-14 18, 2013 game against the Saint ORIGINAL RESCHEDULED CAUSE John Mill Rats having to be Moncton at STORM 12/10/13 02/15/14 Weather Windsor at STORM 12/15/13 12/16/13 Weather cancelled. Four of the eight STORM at Halifax 02/16/14 02/26/14 Weather postponements have been at STORM at Halifax 03/26/14 03/27/14 Weather home. This was the second game STORM at Halifax 03/27/14 03/29/14 Weather against the Lightning that has been cancelled. The Storm were 2014-15 postponed on February 10, 2013 in ORIGINAL RESCHEDULED CAUSE London at STORM 02/16/15 02/23/14 Weather London. The Storm had no postponements in their first year of existence, 2011-12. Not So Rough The Storm and the Rainmen were whistled for 30 fouls each in the game on Thursday. It is the third time this season that the Storm has been involved in a game with at least 60 fouls. On November 15th at London, the Storm had 37 fouls while the Lightning had 31 fouls for a total of 68 fouls. On January 3rd at home against Halifax, the Storm had 31 fouls to 34 for the Rainmen. The game had two unsportsmanlike fouls and two technical fouls. With 9:10 left in the fourth period, Nick Evans hard-fouled Freddy Appiah of the Rainmen when Appiah drove to the basket. Evans was assessed an unsportsmanlike foul. Both Liam McMorrow of the Rainmen and Evans of the Storm got into a pushing and shoving match and were both given technical fouls. With 39 seconds left in the game, Tyrone Watson of Halifax was given an unsportsmanlike foul on Nick Okorie of the Storm. Halifax Dominates Middle Periods Although the middle two periods were kinder for the Storm (47.2% field goal percentage in middle periods as opposed to 43.8% in the first and fourth combined), it was a bonanza for the Halifax Rainmen. The Rainmen shot 41.5% in periods one and four combined but a sparkling 63.4% in the middle frames. In a span of 13:20 (from 10:10 left in the third period when the score was tied 52-52 until 8:50 left in the fourth quarter when the score was 94-76 for the Rainmen), the Rainmen out-scored the Storm 42-24. In that time, Halifax shot 73.9% (17 for 23) from the field. Meanwhile the Storm shot 40% (8 for 20). At one point, Halifax made eight of nine shots.
