Her students are learning the fundamentals of the Internet. WEB-110 builds a solid foundation for the more advanced WEB-210 class. In WEB-210, students are learning how to build their own websites. In the Database Concepts (DBA-110) class, students are learning how to design and manage databases. Ms. Poole is teaching CTS-115 to the Advanced Technologies Seniors. The Seniors are studying how tech- nology relates to businesses and how technology can optimize business efficiency. Reported by: Ryan Thomson Biomedical Academy News Poor Anna Garcia died… again. In Biomedical Academy, the Freshman are looking at all the evidence from poor Ms. Garcia’s remnants. They are determining whether she died from nat- ural causes or if there were a little more to it. The Blood Drive for the Community Blood Bank was March 14. It was a great success. Free t-shirts were given away to those who gave blood. The Biomedical Freshman also got to determine the calorie content of some foods by burning the food and looking at the change in it’s mass. Biomedical Juniors completed a lab where they extracted a bi-luminescent gene from a glow-in-the-dark jelly fish and placed it in a bacteria cell. The bacteria glows when placed under a black light. The Engineering Juniors have been building and wiring VEX robots in the Engineering Lab. By doing this, the Engineering students are able to learn about control systems for robots. Meanwhile, the Engineering Se- niors have been learning about manufacturing that is ran by using binary code, logic ladders, stops and starts, and 1’s and 0’s. This will give the students a great advantage when looking for a job because most local businesses need PLC (Programmable Large Circuits) operators. Throughout the year, Beta members volunteer their time to serve others in the school and throughout the community. We all need help from time to time. We should all make a habit of helping others. Please take note of a recent service activity and an upcoming event. In February, seven CCCMC students joined various other volunteers at Caldwell County Yoke- fellow. Yokefellow provides emergency outreach to families in need, in the form of clothing, food, and monetary assistance. The students worked in the thrift store section of Yokefellow, scattered among the room to hang, fold, and restock the shelves and racks with clothes. The job normally takes Yokefellow staff all day, but with the help of the volunteers who came out to help, it was finished in three hours! The students worked in various sections of the thrift store, not only restocking but also reorganizing, moving some things around, and whatever else needed to be done. Two of our sophomores even redesigned the window display. Coming together as a group to not only help others out, but to see the job completed at the end of the day, was a great experience, not to mention the doughnuts they got to enjoy! The festival is on April 9th from 10 am to 3pm for the Whitnel Autism pro- gram and Autism Awareness Month. Wrist bands will be sold for $5.00 and include everything except food. The festival will have games, food, vendors, art auction, face painting and more! All money raised will be donated to the Whitnel Autism program and will help children in our community with autism.
