Our team has put together itineraries which help you make the most of your time in the region - whether you have three days to spare, or two weeks - with a host of hand- picked experiences and sights that show you the best of the reef. Like all of our experiences, we tailor them to match your needs exactly, but the examples below will give you a taste of this World Heritage-listed area. the AUTHORITY ON YAChting northroP & Johnson 03 sinCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY PORT DOUGLAS & THE REEF 3 DAY ITINERARY Day 1 Join the yacht at Port Douglas, and enjoy a light breakfast on board while cruising to your first taste of the Great Barrier Reef. The yacht will drop anchor at Mackay Sand Cay to allow you time to snorkel and enjoy the abundant marine life. As you depart, your crew will serve you lunch while underway to Rachel Carson Reef. Once there, snorkeling, water and fishing activities will be available, before you enjoy sundowners on the top deck and your first reef sunset. Day 2 Dive in for a morning snorkel before breakfast, and after your leisurely meal prepared by the chef, take your pick from fishing, water activities or some quiet sun-worshipping. Lunch will be served while you watch over the thriving reef marine life beneath the surface, before departing to Opal Reef. Troll for mackerel and tuna on the way and then arrive at Opal for fishing and snorkeling activities, before sundowners and dinner. Day 3 Enjoy a slow morning snorkel at Sno Reef where you’ll meet the locals, including a local Maori wrasse known as Sam. Opal Reef is part of the outer Great Barrier Reef system and is known for great visibility and a huge variety of marine species. There’ll be plenty of time for water sports before departing for Port Douglas, where you’re able to transfer to cairns’ international airport by air or land. the AUTHORITY ON YAChting northroP & Johnson 04 sinCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY RIBBON REEFS TO LIZARD ISLAND 7 DAY ITINERARY Day 1 Guest arrive onboard at Port Douglas and enjoy a light breakfast while steaming towards Mackay Sand cay. Here, we’ll stop to explore and snorkel alongside sea turtles, eagle rays and giant clams. Back on board, your crew will serve lunch while the yacht is underway to Rachel carson Reef for more snorkeling and fishing followed by sundowners on the top deck watching dusk fall over the reef. Day 2 Enjoy the solitude of a morning snorkel, alone - bar the teeming multitudes beneath the waters - before breakfast. After breakfast, depart for Anderson Reef to snorkel a rarely visited site. From there, you’ll cruise to Ribbon Reef to sample world- famous dive and snorkel sites; Steve’s Bommie and Temple of Doom. The yacht will then overnight at Ribbon Reef Number Three; part of the long strips of reef which form the outer edges of the Great Barrier Reef. Day 3 Enjoy a before-breakfast snorkel, or spend some time on the aft deck soaking up the morning sun. you’ll depart for Ribbon Reef Number Five to snorkel, fish, or play with the yacht’s toys, before lunch, while travelling to Ribbon Reef Number Seven. the authoritY on YACHTING northroP & JOHNSON 05 sinCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY Day 4 Arrive at Ribbon Reef 9.5 and snorkel world-renowned dive and snorkel sites pixie’s pinnacle and challenger Bay. you’ll then have lunch before cruising to the cod Hole for further snorkeling and on-water activities. Day 5 Start the day snorkeling Dynamite pass - channel where pelagic fish cruise from the Coral Sea to Great Barrier Reef. An afternoon of diving or snorkelling followed by sunset cocktails as the sun sets over the horizon. Day 6 Breakfast on the reef before departing for Lizard Island. There you’ll spend the day exploring the island, snorkeling the Clam Gardens, kayaking and relaxing on the pristine white sandy beaches. Day 7 Rise early on your last day on board to hike up to cook’s Look, the summit of Lizard Island, for 360 degree views across the island. The three hour walk will leave you ready for a swim. you’ll have time to relax, snorkel a last time, enjoy lunch on board and then depart Lizard Island Airport bound for Cairns. the authoritY on YAChting northroP & JohnsoN 06 siNCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY PORT DOUGLAS TO THE WHITSUNDAYS 6 DAY ITINERARY Day 1 Depart Port Douglas to arrive at Fitzroy Island: a tropical paradise where rain forests vie with beaches for your attention. Try your hand at kayaking in the sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef, and enjoy your first snorkel with the reef’s underwater inhabitants before departing Fitzroy, to arrive at Dunk Island. Day 2 Explore Dunk Island, more than half of which is National Park - making for beautiful, preserved natural spaces - then after your crew serve you breakfast on the aft deck, leave for Hinchinbrook Island. Once there, you’ll have time to explore Zoe Bay and the eastern side of the island, before travelling through Hinchinbrook passage, where you’ll anchor overnight to enjoy crabbing, fishing and croc’ spotting. Day 3 Arrive Magnetic Island Horseshoe Bay. Enjoy Magnetic Island before steaming overnight to world-famous Whitehaven Beach. the authoritY on YAChting northroP & Johnson 07 SINCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY Day 4 consistently voted the world’s top beach due to its squeaky-white silica sand, you’ll have the opportunity to wake to a Whitehaven Beach devoid of tourists. Play in the crystalline waters, head ashore to explore this world-renowned spot. Day 5 & 6 cruise the beautiful Whitsunday Islands where you’ll have the chance to enjoy quiet beach walks, water sports, fishing and snorkeling i n this blue and green aquatic playground. On land there are world-leading spas like Spa-qualia to enjoy, while nothing beats a quiet afternoon lazing on the aft deck. Alternatively, to enjoy all the Whitsunday Islands have to offer, the yacht can be relocated to meet you on location, subject to relocation fee. the AUTHORITY ON YAChting northroP & Johnson 08 sinCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY PORT DOUGLAS TO LIZARD ISLAND – RETURN 5 DAY ITINERARY Day 1 Board your yacht where your crew will serve you a light breakfast while steaming to Rachel carson Reef. After your first taste of swimming with the inhabitants of the Great Barrier Reef, you’ll depart Rachel carson for Lizard Island where you’ll enjoy cocktails on the aft deck watching the sun sink into the water. Day 2 Wake up at Lizard Island and get the day started with a walk up to Cook’s Look, for panoramic views across the island. After a well-deserved lunch, snorkel the Clam Gardens, and then enjoy a lazy few hours at North West beach. Day 3 Depart Lizard Island after breakfast. Snorkel the Cod Hole to meet the schools of curious potato cod who give the dive spot its name, before steaming to Challenger Bay (Ribbon Nine and a Half). Overnight at Ribbon Number Eight and have a relaxed evening of sundowners, fishing and a late afternoon snorkel. Day 4 Take in a morning snorkel, breakfast and then steam to Ribbon Number Five, trying your luck trolling for mackerel along the way. Once there, you’ll have plenty of time to fish and snorkel, and enjoy a long, leisurely lunch. you’ll cruise with dusk to stay overnight at Opal Reef. Day 5 Spend the morning at Opal Reef before heading back to Port Douglas to arrive at the marina by 5pm. From Port Douglas it’s an easy transfer to Cairns airport which services international airlines and private flights. the authoritY on YACHTING northroP & JOHNSON 09 sinCE 1949 THE GREAT BARRIER ITINERARY PORT DOUGLAS TO LIZARD ISLAND – ONE WAY 2 DAY ITINERARY Day 1 Join your yacht at Port Douglas where your crew will serve you cool drinks and point out the sites as you cruise to Rachel Carson Reef. Enjoy snorkeling and fishing activities before departing Rachel Carson in the evening to steam overnight to Ribbon Number Seven. Day 2 Take an early morning swim and snorkel at Ribbon Number Seven before you enjoy breakfast watching the reef awaken. Depart and cruise to Challenger Bay to snorkel, where cuttlefish often make a guest appearance. Depart to snorkel Cod Hole where giant potato cod will surround you.
