LOTTO NRFL Division 1 TAKAPUNA Saturday 6 June2015 2.45pm Manurewa AFC Club Rooms P.O. Box 75 122 War Memorial Park Manurewa Gibbs Rd Auckland Manurewa Phone: (09) 267 1120 Welcome to Takapuna first and reserve sides to Manurewa Memorial Park. With the turn around of results for our team it will be good to see the momentum gained carry on. So to H, Nathan and Gordon keep the hard work up. To Graham Wickman and the third division side. Good work. Hope you can stay there now for the rest of the season. With the weather of late lets hope it's not going to be another season of cancellations. Finally Wayne Jensen has the use of Jellicoe park so with the limited use this season bear with us while we sort out the training hours and how we manage this, but he did tell me that at his meeting with council, guess what? The lights don't work. Wayne is now working on that. Thank you all again for supporting us while we wait for the new training field. See you at the park hopefully with some fine weather on Saturday. All grounds are full so get down and watch soccer. The Manurewa team started brightly with them going close to scoring twice in the first 2min of play and keeping Metro on the back foot, then Metro failing to clear their lines, from a cross Mark Lindsay was on hand too put the Rewa team ahead, the score remained at 1-0 until halftime. In the second half with only 90secs just been played, Geno put a great ball thru to Jacob who rounded one defender and side footed the ball past the goalkeeper into the net to take Manurewa into a 2nil lead. The Manurewa team managed to hold on to their lead until full time.. Gordon Craig Coach TAKAPUNA Reserves RESERVES 1 Dillan Patel GK 2 Adam Spencer GK. Andrew Van Stipriaan 3 Greg Seed 2. Since our last meeting we have put in our two best performances of the season gaining our first win against Mangere and a well deserved draw away to joint league leaders, Tauranga. The confidence is slowly building in the team and we are also showing some of the fighting spirit which Manurewa is renowned for. We are coming into a very crucial period of the season with us playing several teams around us in the league table. Today’s match is a definite 6 pointer and I know Kevin will have his Takapuna team focused and aware of the importance of a result. If we can build on the momentum of the last two weeks by working hard and competing to the best of our ability the result will take care of itself. I know our squad is working hard and trying their best and we need to keep this going to keep improving. Thanks again to our supporters. It was great to see so many make the trip down to Tauranga to cheer us on and I’m glad the boys could repay your effort with a great fighting performance. In what has been a tough season so far it’s always good to hear the Rewa support crew cheering. As most of you know that all but a few games were played over the weekend due to the U20 World Cup. Div 3 are top of the table and looking to keep their spot on top today against Ellerslie. Div 6 are coming along as a team—a great bunch of players are having a tough season so far. This could be their day today vs Manukau. Over 35's are just 5 points off the lead and looking to have another great performance. Apologies to Gigsy—totally forgot to mention the old timer in the last report. The star of a bloke scored 2 stunner goals. Today they play Onehunga Sport—hope he can continue his goal scoring form. Good luck to all teams. Pinda Senior Chairman LADIES REPORT This week the ladies team are playing at home against Bucklands Beach. This will again prove to be a tough ask with Bucklands Beach being another Div 2 side in what is now a 15 team combined Div2/3 competition. Last week we were home to Bay Olympic who were well placed on the table and another Div 2 team. The match ended with a 3 nil loss with all 3 goals coming in the first half. Some changes at half time allowed us to reduce Bay Olympics options and play a better structured game. We were unlucky with a few chances and overall were pleased with the 2nd half effort. Player of the day was Ebony who continues to show improvement every week as her confidence increases. We hope coach Simon and Jenny Bilton are having a great time in Italy while we battle the wet and cold! Cheers Karl (stand in coach) Youth Report Hi everyone Since the last home game, we have only had a few games played due to weather and the FIFIA U20 World Cup Opening so there is not much to report. At the time of writing this, the weather does not look favourable for games this weekend either. A big thank you must go out to all youth teams who have been extremely patient with the issues surrounding the training grounds.
