The Mr and Miss Metsimaholo 2017 pageant was hosted by Paul Phangoa, Mannini Mofokeng and Lesley Phooko un- der the LMP brand and Phooko World Re- presentatives and organisers. “Life can show us incredible wonders. This event has taught us a lot about ourselves and working with people in a remarkable way. Indeed success is the sum of small efforts. A big thank you to all those who par- ticipated in this event: Makarios Photogra- phy, Xiero Artist, Ponkas Artist, NSC Boys, Dido Artist, Kofifi Group, Dope Boys Dance Group, Essentrix Dance Group, Thapelo and Violet and the MCs from Karabo FM. A big thank you to the municipality, Pick n Pay and Ok Grocer for sponsoring this event. Lastly, thank you to the judges for taking the time to be here, Hazel Alotsi, Zanele Cin- di, Naledi Mile and Katleho Malaka,” said Paul Phangoa. The winner of Miss Metsima- holo 2017 was the 23 year old Modgadi Em- melda Mthimkulu. She is currently studying at VUT but hails from Zamdela. She believes that ladies in Metsimaholo should start im- proving their confidence and self esteem, lo- ve and respect themselves and people in the community. They must believe in their he- arts as ladies and know their roles in life and know that everything is possible when you work incredibly hard. “Honestly, I entered this competition kno- wing very well that I would be up against amazing beautiful ladies but through my pre- vious modelling skills I was aiming to be crowned as the queen. “I was ready for it and there is nothing more appealing than being a woman of statu- re,” said Modgadi. When asked what she would like to say to the youth, she said, “We must be united and work together to bring change in our community. Let us be an inspiration like the youth that stood on their feet and organised this big event in Metsimaholo as a whole. The greatest achievement is touching so- meone’s life in a way that inspires and helps someone attain their dreams. Knowing your purpose in life is the first thing to bear in mind. Bringing light to someone’s life is ob- viously a blessing too. Be limitless, be bold, try new things, and lastly say “no to drug and women trafficking.” Mr. Metsimaholo was 21-year-old Sbusi- so Mbatha from Zamdela. He loves playing soccer, doing modelling and his role model is his father, Sipho. “Firstly I would like to say to each and everyone in the community that we must lo- ve, respect, understand and honour the com- munity where we were born and live in. “By so doing, there will be no more mur- ders, rapes, drug dealing and women traffic- king. I encourage the youth to attend a few of the rehabilitation centres in our communi- ty and together, let’s protect our women and say no to drugs and crime,” said Sbusiso. The Miss Teen winner was the youngest of all the competitors, 14 year old Refentse Mogapi. The Mr Teen honours went to 17-year-old Kananelo Mtshabi.
