Honorary Treasurer The Association of Surgeons of India Its my honor and privilege to be the Honorary Treasurer of ASI. I am bringing out a report on ASI Treasury and sharing my views as Honorary Treasurer. My sincere thanks to President Prof. Arvind Kumar and all the esteemed members of Executive Committee 2019-2021 for electing me as Honorary Treasurer and for giving me an opportunity to serve this great organization-ASI. My special thanks to Honorary Secretary Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jain for his support and guidance all along. I thank Dr P V Ramana Murthy, Secretary – Headquarters & Dr Shivaram, Secretary – Website for the support and great work. TRANSPARANCY….. During my tenure as Honorary Treasurer, I have worked with utmost sincerity, honesty and TRANSPARANCY in accounting system. Income and expenditures are made from respective accounts specified for that purpose. ie IJS to IJS , Building Account to Building Works etc. All transactions are made with cheques after scrutiny. HANDS FREE work…. Cash was never handled, entire work was scrutinized and signing cheques & papers. MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT: Three New FD's have opened totaling into a sum of Rs. 1.90 Crore (Rupees One Crore Ninety Lakhs only). Life Membership - 9.28 Crores, Endowments – 0.79 Lakhs, FAIS – 0.43 Lakhs, General Account – 0.60 Lakhs, Building Account – 0.60 Lakhs, IJS – 0.66 Lakhs, ASI SSS – 2.09 Crores. The available FDs now are 11.80 Crores. (Life membership – 8.93 Crores, Endowments – 0.35 Lakhs, FAIS – 0.39 Lakhs, ASICON 2019 Rs. 0.30 Lakhs, ASI SSS – 1.80 Crores, Building – 0.03 Lakhs) ASICON CONTRIBUTIONS. ASICON 2018 Chennai contributed a sum of Rs. 30 lakhs. Thanks to entire organizing committee and Dr Vinayak Senthil, Organizing secretary – ASICON 2018. ASICON 2019 Bhubaneswar also contributed a sum of Rs. 30 lakhs well in advance as per the MOU. Thanks to entire organizing committee and Dr. Sreejoy Patnaik, Organizing Secretary – ASICON 2019. 4 ASSETS. Govt of Tamil Nadu has given a piece of land at CHENNAI during 1964 on long lease in heart of city. Our past leaders have constructed ASI Building (two storied), & big auditorium of 1500 capacity. We can utilize these premises for our organizational & academic purposes only, not for commercial activities. This team work solved many pending issues of ASI building, streamlined entire working. Now we are able to generate rental income from our auditorium and building which is reflecting in our annual accounts. INCOME…. 1. Our regular Income is by Interest on FDs, Rents on Auditorium for academic meetings, Membership contribution, FAIS contribution, IJS Royalty, ASICON contributions, sale of petty items like ties, members list etc. EXPENDITURE…. 1. Our regular expenses are …. Staff Salaries, amenities, office & building maintenance, repairs, Land Lease rent, Property, Metro Water Taxes, Contributions to state chapters as per membership, Contribution to IJS printing & postage.. EC Meetings expenses, Official travel of office bearers, Election expenses, Printing & Stationary & Postage & Communications. 2. Legal expenses to fight cases if any against ASI is always an additional burden. This can be avoided by settling the issues in EC, GB Meetings & ASI Grievance Cell, discussing with in the ASI. With these I have shared my views working as Honorary Treasurer of ASI. I thank once again to President & Past Presidents, Honorary Secretary, Joint Secretaries and all EC Members for giving me the opportunity to serve this great organization.
