WEST VIRGINIA A QUICK LOOK AT THE FIGHTING IRISH One of the primary goals for Notre Dame this season has been to put itself in position to contend for a Page 2 national championship. As the regular season winds down, the Irish certainly have done just that, post- ing a 23-4 record (11-3 in the BIG EAST) with seven victories over ranked opponents, including four against top-10 foes. Notre Dame also won the Sportsview.tv Preseason WNIT in mid-November, claim- ing its first regular-season tournament title since 2000-01. ASSOCIATED PRESS POLL Below the surface, it’s apparent the Irish have been strong in nearly all facets of their game. They (Feb. 21) are 10-2 on the road, making big strides from last year’s struggles away from home. Notre Dame also has shown excellent resiliency, losing back-to-back games just once all season and rebounding from Rk. Team Record Previous 1.
