Some papers were presented at the first meeting of the Grateful Dead area of the Southwest/Texas American Culture and Popular Culture Association conference, which later became the Grateful Dead Scholars Caucus. Biographical History The David Dodd Grateful Dead collection consists of original and photocopied printed reference material about the Grateful Dead musical group and their fans, the Deadheads, assembled during the research for Dodd's coathored book, The Grateful Dead and the Deadheads: An Annotated Bibliography (Greenwood Press, 1997), written with Robert G. Weiner. The collection also includes drafts, correspondence, and materials pertaining to Dodd's coedited book, The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics (Free Press, 2005). David Dodd is also the creator of The Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics website, which was the precursor to the book of the same name. Scope and Content of Collection Items in the David Dodd Grateful Dead collection were selected by the donor and given to the University Library in October 1997, with a second accrual donated in 2012. The collection includes journals, articles and newsletters, theses, conference papers and reports, concert flyers, tourbooks and catalogs, and book drafts and associated materials. 1. David G.
