Viresh Says: February 17th, 2007 at 8:42 am Hare Rama Krishna Dear Vistiji, Namaskar There has been a quiet an interesting debate on Yahoo groups between two expert jyotishis regarding upapada, as to for even lagna rising whether it should be arudha of 12 th or 2nd house Most of the time whenever i have heard about UL from any SJC gurus, they refer to 12 th house as house of giving and hence UL will show how much you give etc. It is a reasonably good explanation. I personally dont have too many explanations about why UL is seen from 12th house due to my lack of knowledge The only supporting argument that i came up with for UL to be seen fro 2nd house is, when we see divisional charts esp D3 & D9, if it is even lagna rising we reverse the order. So for odd lagna 5th house will be for first child whereas for even lagna 9th house will be first child. However we are very clear that 5th house shows people who follow you & your future, so howcome we look for 9th (past) for your children which is suppose to be your future? Also there has been a lot of emphasis on UL in rasi chart, but shouldnt we focus on UL even more in D9, as it is the divisional chart that shows a specific are & usually we see things that manifest(arudhas) from div chart, bcoz rasi mainly shows your physical existence. 2. Visti Larsen Says: February 18th, 2007 at 3:46 pm हरे राम कृ ण Dear Viresh, Namaskar We do not reverse for D9, i think you meant to write D3 & D7. These two are used purely http://www.srigaruda.com/articles/2004/12/15/navamsa-karma-and-god/ 29-08-2008 Srigaruda.com: a Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) site by Visti Larsen based in Frederiksber... Side 2 af 9 for analyzing siblings and children, and that should give you a clue as to the reason for reversing… See whenever there is talk of Srishti or Creation, we need to refer back to the story of Matsya and Varaha avatara. Here specifically Matsya represents the time in the womb prior to creation when the entire universe gets flooded and the atma is ’stuck’ in the womb. We worship Matsya when we need to ‘cope’ with the bondage of rebirth, and save the veda (knowledge/vidya) and this is very important for people with Kala amrita yoga. Varaha avatara represents the time of birth itself when the entire world/universe is taken OUT of the water and we get to breath the air of freedom. Ladies worship Varaha Avatara as Su-Kara (cause of breath) to ensure the safe delivery of their child. Parasara states that these two avataras are signified by Ketu and Rahu respectively, and thus also the entire analysis of the saptamsa and drekkana for analyzing children and siblings becomes highly colored by the nodes and their influence on the chart. Hence also the concept of REVERSAL comes in the picture. Now… since when did I have anything to do with my wifes creation? Justifying the ‘reversal’ calculation for Upapada would also justify the possibility of calculating Pitrupada and Matripada from fifth and tenth houses respectively!.. No i cannot justify such a reversal. I hope this helps. Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen. 3. Viresh Says: February 19th, 2007 at 10:15 am हरे राम कृ ण Dear Vistiji, namaskar I did not intend to takesides or anything. The only purpose for asking you was to clear my confusion. I do accept that rahu & ketu reverse things. but why only do we reverse it for even signs & not odd signs then? Also how are we involved in creation of our siblings? The logic u said works fine with D7 but what about D3? Again I am not suggesting that We have to see UL from 2nd or so. just trying to clear my doubts. 4. Visti Larsen Says: February 19th, 2007 at 11:28 am हरे राम कृ ण Dear Viresh, Namaskar Sorry if my words come of as aggressive, know that I don’t have an angry bone in my body when it comes to jyotish, nor am I picking sides, just explaining based on my learning and conviction. If we were to analyze the odd signs in reverse, then we wouldn’t be living up to a concept of real reversal, as we would always be seeing the child from a static ninth house instead of the fifth house. So taking odd signs in reverse as well as the even signs does not really justify a reversal. As to why even signs are reversed i have written a little below. http://www.srigaruda.com/articles/2004/12/15/navamsa-karma-and-god/ 29-08-2008 Srigaruda.com: a Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) site by Visti Larsen based in Frederiksber... Side 3 af 9 The odd and even signs can be categorized into two types of nature of being masculine and feminine. It is the masculine which brings the atma to this world, hence the first important function of the father is to carry the ATMA (sun). This then gets transferred to the mother with the vehicle of Venus in the form of spermatozoa, just as Agni carries knowledge to the mind in the form of Vahni. Hence the odd signs are creative signs. Even signs are opposite! The female principle does not cause creation but sustains it, and this important role of carrying the atma in the womb wherein it is given a mind (mana) and blood/body (mars) is the greatest gift given to the child. So we have to groups of creative and non-creative signs. These are the odd and even signs. The creative signs are moving forward/direct, whilst the innate feminine signs are moving in the opposite direction. D3 is PART of our creation. Somebody has a blood link to you and in some cases they occupied the same womb with you. So the D3 is part of our shristi as well. Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen. 5. Srini rajitha Says: October 15th, 2007 at 8:57 pm Dear Vistiji, I have been wondering for a long time about this. After reading your article, I wanted to ask this question. 1) My atmakaraka is Saturn and is debilated in Navamsa in Aries, the 2nd house in Navamsa. It says that indicates fear from rats, cats, etc. What does this mean? Does it mean this might happen if I am going wrong in the path of my life? 2) Also, my life started with Saturn dasha, which was partly over in my previous life. That means, I died in Saturn dasha in my last birth. Also, Saturn is my atmakaraka placed in my Lagna. Saturn is debilated in Navamsa in the second house. I see a strong Saturn connection in my chart. Can you please throw some light on what this means. 4th Sept 1974, 2:00 am Bangalore, India. Thank you very much. 6. Visti Larsen Says: October 16th, 2007 at 8:00 pm हरे राम कृ ण Dear Srini Rajitha, Namaskar 1) It means you will have problems from rats and cats, maybe not fear from the same though. You would be quite spiritual if Saturn is in second house in navamsa. 2) How are you so sure about last lifes dasa? Yes, Saturn is your atmakaraka of course it http://www.srigaruda.com/articles/2004/12/15/navamsa-karma-and-god/ 29-08-2008 Srigaruda.com: a Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) site by Visti Larsen based in Frederiksber... Side 4 af 9 has a strong connection to your chart. Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen. 7. Lata Says: February 9th, 2008 at 4:22 am Dear Visti, Namaste. Your description of this article mentioned “omens”. Would you be so kind as to write an article / teach a class on sakuna / nimitta interpretation? There is some discussion on the newsgroups, but that’s just enough to whet my appetite! Just before that discussion, I consistently kept seeing birds, which is quite unusual for the dead of winter here. And the number was consistent - either 1 or 8. How should I describe it… it was like the Playful One was amused that I knew something was being said, but didn’t know the language to actually understand what was said. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but 8 birds flying overhead brings an image of the protective asthakshari as an abhayahastam extending over me. Which classics give more details on nimittas? Could you please write / speak to this, either here, or in your upcoming book? When you have time, of course. You spend so much of your time helping so many people that I am quite amazed that you manage to have a life! Thanks, Lata 8. Visti Larsen Says: February 9th, 2008 at 12:45 pm हरे राम कृ ण Dear Members, Namaskar The best lesson so far on sakuna shastra is that given among the DBC-courses at http://sohamsa.com I recommend going through the same, as well as the dream lesson.
