The first mark er was dedicated on May 20, 1961, for Fort Atkinson in Fort Cal houn. With the passage of L.B. 1147 by the last legislature the respon sibilities for the marker program are transferred to the Nebraska State Historical Society. The list of markers which follows are ap proximately in the order in which they were erected. The outstand ing progress of the program would not be possible without the close cooperation of the State Department of Roads. November 1, 1969 No. Title Location County 1.
