The program’s theme was “Twists and Turns in Life,” and Michael shared about his struggles battling melanoma cancer. Life took an unexpected turn for Michael and his family when he was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma. Yet Michael continues to testify to God’s grace and mercy in his life in the midst of these challenges. He reminded us of Jim Elliot’s words, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Michael concluded his message with a reading from “The Fellowship of the Unashamed” (Signature of Jesus by Brennan Manning). Here is an excerpt from this reading: “I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made—I’m a disciple of His. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure.
