Waimak United Football Club SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 30th June 2018 waimakunited.org.nz COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB Hello and welcome to another week of football. The in-house junior program is now well into its stride and it is great to see so many kids out there learning new skills, trying their hardest and having fun. Thanks again to all the coaches who give their time and effort to make it all possible. Many kids will be experiencing their first World Cup and trying to take what they see on the screen out into the playground during the week and then the pitch in the weekend - I still have memories of following my first World Cup many years ago. The World Cup has also provided a distraction for some of the more mature members of the club, with a few looking worse for wear after early morning viewing. The tournament has now progressed to the knockout stages, with some of the pre-tournament favourites barely making it through. I am sure we'll see a few more upsets before the final whistle is blown. Speaking of tournaments, planning is well progressed for various tournaments that our club teams will be involved in over the coming months. We are proud to be able to field 14 strong teams in the South Island Tournaments in October. This is testament to the strength and depth that we have in our Junior and Youth grades. The club is also proud to be hosting the Alan Fraser Memorial Tournament for girls in mid-July. Enjoy your footy! Andrew Lough, WUFC Board Member. WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE VS COSTAL SPIRIT 12.30PM KICK OFF- KENDALL PARK Coaches Comments Today we welcome Coastal Spirit, current league leaders in the WPL after beating Cashmere Technical a fortnight ago. This will be a real test for both sides after an entertaining 1-1 draw last round which saw plenty of chances for both sides but resilient defending meant a share of the points and Coastal retained the Hawkey Shield. Waimak had a friendly in Timaru with the Roslyn Wakari women’s side last weekend, winning convincingly 6-1. This was their first game since the league win against Cashmere Technical three weeks ago, in which Gabi Rennie grabbed a brace in a 2-0 win at Kendall. With the league on the line today for both sides, the girls have taken a step up in terms of attitude and application at training and will take this through to the game and give their all for each other. Congratulations to members of both squads who have made the Canterbury United Pride wider squad and a special mention to Macey Fraser and Jayda Stewart for their inclusion in the NZ u17 training squad plus Gabi Rennie, Una Foyle, Tahlia Herma-Watt and Rebecca Lake who have made the provisional squad for the NZ u20 World Cup in August. Best of luck to our CWC girls who have the opportunity to go into 2nd place in the league if they beat Universities today at Ilam Fields at 9:15am; and Adam and his squad who take on Western at Walter Park at 2:30pm. “The achievements of an organisation are the results of the combined efforts of each individual.” – Pat Riley Duncan Reed WPL Assistant Coach DUNCAN REED WPL Coach Waimak United Women’s CWC vs Universities AFC Gold 9.15am at Ilam Fields INTRODUCING OUR 2018 WOMEN’S PREMIER/CWC SQUAD SHANE VERMA DUNCAN REED MICHAEL POOLE RACHELLE GEORGE WPL Squad Coach WPL Coach CWC Coach CWC Coach TRUDY KEER-KEER N0. 1 No. 2 No. 3 No. 4 Squad Manager BRIAR GUYAN ELLA FONG REBECCA GILLETT LILY FISHER No. 5 (Squad Captain) No. 6 No. 7 No. 8 No. 9 SOPHIE WILLIAMS THAIS MUNOZ GABI RENNIE MACEY FRASER JAYDA STEWART No. 10 No. 11 No. 12 No. 13 No. 14 EMMA JOHNSON KAYLA THOMAS EMMA FELLOWES MIKAYLA NORTMAN CONNOR DUGGAN WOMEN’S PREMIER/CWC SqUaD PROUDly SPONSORED by INTRODUCING OUR 2018 WOMEN’S PREMIER/CWC SqUaD No. 15 No. 16 No. 17 No. 18 No. 19 MADDI SILCOCK LILY THOMPSON- LIBBY LATIMER GRACE CROSS HAZEL BILLCLIFF HOOD No. 20 No. 21 No. 22 No. 23 No. 24 RILEY FALCONER JESSICA COTTERELL JOHANNA KEER-KEER JAZ BALL ABBY DE VISSER No. 25 No. 26 No. 27 No. 28 No. 29 SIMONE SALTER KATIE ELSTOB EMMA UDY BETH DONNELLY TESSA MCKAY No. 30 No.31 No. 32 EMILY KEER-KEER MADDIE GOMMANS Match day program proudly sponsored by Canterbury Championship League Results & Table Goal Played Win Draw Loss For Against Total Difference Halswell United 12 7 4 1 30 15 15 25 Western AFC 12 6 5 1 35 16 19 23 Parklands United 11 4 3 4 16 25 -9 15 Waimakariri Utd 13 3 3 7 16 23 -7 12 Christchurch Utd 12 2 5 5 18 20 -2 11 Burwood AFC 12 3 2 7 24 40 -16 11 Canterbury Championship League Reserves Results & Table Goal Played Win Draw Loss For Against Total Difference Halswell United 11 8 1 2 35 9 26 25 Christchurch Utd 12 7 2 3 26 12 14 23 Waimakariri Utd 12 6 3 3 31 21 10 21 Parklands United 11 5 1 5 21 21 0 16 Burwood AFC 11 2 2 7 14 41 -27 8 Nomads United AFC 11 1 1 9 11 34 -23 4 Women’s Premier League Results & Table Goal Played Win Draw Loss For Against Total Difference Coastal Spirit 9 5 4 0 30 9 21 19 Cashmere Technical 8 5 2 1 26 10 16 17 Waimakariri Utd 7 3 2 2 12 13 -1 11 Universities AFC 9 2 2 5 12 17 -5 8 Halswell United 9 1 0 8 10 41 -31 3 Canterbury Women’s Championship Results & Table Goal Played Win Draw Loss For Against Total Difference FC Twenty 11 PDL 8 7 0 1 40 17 23 21 Cashmere Technical 10 6 2 2 59 21 38 20 Waimakariri Utd 10 6 1 3 36 22 14 19 Halswell United 10 6 0 4 25 15 10 18 Universities AFC Black 9 5 2 2 26 16 10 17 Universities AFC Gold 9 2 1 6 13 28 -15 7 Parklands United 9 1 0 8 11 34 -23 3 Selwyn United FC 9 1 0 8 13 70 -57 3 INTRODUCING OUR 2018 MEN’S CCL/RESERVES SQUAD ADAM SEARLE STEVE MASON JODY BROWN MITCHELL QUIGLEY CCL Squad Head Assistant Coach Kitman (CAPTAIN) Coach MARK COLLINSON KYLE HODGE JONTY ASHWORTH NICHOLAS BESUYEN BILLY BROWN (VICE CAPTAIN) FLOYD DUFFY DYSON BUCKINGAM LUCAS CLARK CHRIS CHICK BRAD EIFFE TOM EMMOTT EMILIANO FREIRE JOHN GERBER BEN HARDY ADAM HARRISON TRECU CCL/RESERVES Squad proudly sponsored by INTRODUCING OUR 2018 MEN’S CCL/RESERVES SQUAD DOUGIE HYDE JUAN J APOLLONIO MATT LE GROS DANNY LONEY GONZALO LOPEZ DE ARMENTIA FLASH SHANMUGAM JACK MASON OWEN NOLAN NIKITA POTAPOV JAY SERRAMO TOM SHARP CONNOR SPEAR BEN THOMPSON LIAM WALTERS Match day program proudly sponsored by WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEN’S CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE VS WESTERN AFC 2.30PM KICK OFF WALTER PARK Coaches Comments This Saturday we travel to Walter Park to face 2nd place Western. We have been on a good run of form only losing 1 of the last 5 games and will be looking to gain a win this weekend to see ourselves moving up the table and put a spanner in Westerns promotion chase. The first two rounds Western beat us 4-0 and 3-0 and were both well deserved. The boys will be looking to show that we can compete and beat the best teams in the league as proven when we snapped the only unbeaten run in the league when we beat Halswell two weeks ago. I have been very impressed that even when we were not getting the results the players stayed positive and believed in me, Steve and most importantly each other and have shown great attitude. We will be looking to end the 3rd round strong and continue with that in to the last round to have a good end to the season. Thanks for the support from the side lines and we look forward to seeing you all again this weekend.
