The minimum number of days required is specified below. This list is not comprehensive, but illustrates the most common medications. Minimum 3 days prior to appointment Minimum 5 days prior to appointment Minimum 7 days prior to appointment H1-Receptor Antagonists: H1-Receptor Antagonists: H1-Receptor Antagonists: Diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Tylenol Cold, Cetirizine (Zyrtec) Hydroxyzine (Atarax, Vistaril) Tylenol Flu, Tylenol PM, Sominex) Loratadine (Claritin, Alavert) Promethazine (Phenergan) Doxylamine (Unisom) Fexofenadine (Allegra) Chlorpheniramine (Tussi 12-S) Levocetirizine (Xyzal) Brompheniramine (Dimetapp) H2-Receptor Antagonists: Clemastine Ranitidine (Zantac) Dexchlorpheniramine Famotidine (Pepcid) Doxepin Topical Nizatidine (Axid) *Many antihistamines are Dimehydrinate (Dramamine) Cimetidine (Tagamet) hidden in over the counter Herbal Supplements: Nasal Antihistamines: cold preparations and sleep Ephedrine Azelastine (Astelin, Astepro, Dymista) Primatine Tabs Olopatadine (Patanase) medications. Ma Guang Sleep Medications: Zolpidem (Ambien) The following medications may interfere with skin testing, but due to the nature of these medications (and associated conditions), we DO NOT recommend stopping them unless under guidance from your physician. Tricyclic Antidepressants: Benzodiazepines: Antipsychotics: Other: Sinequan (Doxepin) Diazepam (Valium) Quetiapine (Seroquel) Bupropion (Wellbutrin) Amitryptyline (Elevail) Alprazolam (Xanax) Mirtazapine (Remeron) Trazodone (Desyrel) Amoxapine (Asendin, Defanyl, Clonazepam (Klonopin) Demolox) Lorazepam (Ativan) Desipramine (Norpramin) Imipramine (Tofranil) Nortriptyline (Pamelor) Protriptyline (Vivactil) Trimipramine (Surmontil) Continue the Following Medications Proton-Pump Inhibitors: Omeprazole (Prilosec), Pantoprazole (Protonix), Lansoprazole (Prevacid), Esomeprazole (Nexium), Rabeprazole (AcipHex). All asthma inhalers. Leukotriene receptor antagonists: Montelukast (Singulair), Zileuton (Zyflo), Zafirlukast (Accolate). Nasal corticosteroids, anticholinergics and mast cell stabilizers (but not those mixed with nasal antihistamines, see above under nasal antihistamines): Fluticasone propionate (Flonase), Fluticasone furoate (Veramyst), Mometasone furoate (Nasonex), Budesonide (Rhinocort), Triamcinolone acetonide (Nasacort), Ciclesonide (Omnaris), Beclomethasone dipropionate (Q-Nasl), Flunisolide, Cromolyn sodium, Ipratropium bromide (Atrovent). SSRI and SNRI antidepressants: Citalopram (Celaxa), Escitalopram (Lexapro), Fluoxetine (Prozac), Praoxetine (Paxil, Pexeva), Sertraline (Zoloft), Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Venlafaxine (Effexor), Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq). .
