THE ANGLICAN PARISH OF CHRIST CHURCH BRUNSWICK L D THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST MASS WITH SPIRITUAL COMMUNIOMN 0.00 # 3 %& 202 Christ Church — Enter the Mystery WELCOME TO CHRIST CHURCH Today’s mass is celebrated in a church with very few people present, only those who are assisting with the liturgy, and then ‘keeping their distance’ with love. Others will be watching at home, and will have the ‘reserved sacrament’ with them so they can communicate at the appropriate time in the service. Others will be watching at home and will make a spiritual communion when the time comes. Others will not be able to watch the service, but will spend time following the service paper and then either make their communion with the reserved sacrament or make a spiritual communion. Wherever you are, and however you share in worship today, we are united by the Spirit of the Lord as one company of believers with Christians everywhere. If you are watching try less to ‘watch’ the screen as you might a television programme. Enter into the service … say the prayers … sing the hymns! We’re marching to beautiful Zion, upward to Zion, the beautiful city of God. Then let our songs abound, and every tear be dry; we’re marching through Emmanuel’s ground to fairer worlds on high. We’re marching upward to Zion, the beautiful city of God. Words: Isaac Watts Music: Robert Lowry I( H*# 1. Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, And publish abroad his wonderful name: The name all -victorious of Jesus extol: His kingdom is glorious, and rules over all, 2. God ruleth on high, almighty to save; And still he is nigh, his presence we have: The great congregation his triumph shall sing, Ascribing salvation to Jesus our King. 3. Salvation to God who sits on the throne! Let all cry aloud, and honour the Son: The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, Fall down on their faces, and worship the Lamb. 4. Then let us adore, and give him his right: All glory and power, all wisdom and might, All honour and blessing, with angels above, And thanks never -ceasing, and infinite love. Charles Wesley 1707 -88 NEH 476 In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen Peace be with you. And also with you P@ R The celebrant introduces the service and invites the people to confess their sins: My brothers and sisters, as we wait for the Lord to speak to us through his Word and feed us with the gift of himself in the Holy Communion, let us call to mind our sins. Lord Jesus, You are living bread come down from heaven to feed your people. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord Jesus, You are living water quenching the thirst of all who call upon you. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. 3 Lord Jesus, You are Word made flesh and splendour of the Father. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen G@( EG@ 4 Remain standing C@@ Lord, we beseech you to keep your family, the Church, in continual godliness, that through your protection it may be free from all adversities, and devoutly giv- en to serve you in good works, to the glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen MINISTRY OF THE WORD A RBH I(# ) SB L( I P&@ ) C() 5: 6 -10, 14 -17 So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord — for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive rec- ompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them. From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! For the Word of the Lord. Thanks ,e to God. G(B&@ H*# 1. Love Divine, all loves excelling, 2. Come, almighty, to deliver, Joy of heaven, to earth come down, Let us all thy life receive; Fix in us thy humble dwelling, Suddenly return, and never, All thy faithful mercies crown. Never more thy temples leave. Jesu, thou art all compassion, Thee we would be always blessing, Pure unbounded love thou art; Serve thee as thy hosts above, Visit us with thy salvation, Pray, and praise thee without ceasing, Enter every trembling heart. Glory in thy perfect love. 5 GJ@ A@# The seed is the word of God, Christ is the sower; all who come to him will live for ever. T) H@* GJ@ The Lord be with you. And also with you. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Mark Glory to you Lord %esus Christ. 4: 26 -34 Jesus also said, “The kingdom of God is as if someone would scatter seed on the ground, and would sleep and rise night and day, and the seed would sprout and grow, he does not know how. “The earth produces of itself, first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But when the grain is ripe, at once he goes in with his sickle, because the harvest has come.” He also said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? KIt is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.” With many such parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it; he did not speak to them except in parables, but he explained everything in pri- vate to his disciples. The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you, Lord %esus Christ. 3. Finish then thy new creation, Pure and spotless let us be; Let us see thy great salvation, Perfectly restored in thee, Changed from glory into glory, Till in heaven we take our place, Till we cast our crowns before thee, Lost in wonder, love, and praise! Charles Wesley 1707 -88 NEH 408 S(# Bishop Lindsay After the sermon there is a short time for reflection. 6 P(I I F) We ,elieve in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We ,elieve in one Lord, %esus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally ,egotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, ,egotten, not made, of one ,eing with the FatherL through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and ,ecame truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius PilateL he suffered death and was ,uried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the ScripturesL he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to Mudge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. We ,elieve in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We ,elieve in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one ,aptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
