ANASTASIA PITTMAN BIO Pittman was born on July 19, 1970 in Miami, Florida and has resided in Oklahoma for over 35 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a master’s degree in Urban Education and Behavioral Science from Langston University. Pittman is an educator, consultant, public relations specialist, radio broadcaster, registered tutor with the Oklahoma City Public Schools System, former case manager, and former mentor for the United States Department of Justice, Western District. She won her election to District 99 of the House of Representatives in November 2006 and District 48 of the State Senate in November 2014. Pittman is the second Seminole citizen to serve in the legislature and currently serves as Chair of the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus, Senate Democratic Whip, Co-Chair of the Oklahoma Native American Caucus, National Black Caucus of State Legislators Housing Vice-Chair, National Caucus of Native American Legislators Education Chair and Health Vice-Chair, and National Foundation of Women Legislators State Director. Pittman has international honors from Turkey, Malaysia, and Israel. She is a member of Northeast Church of Christ, Leadership Oklahoma – Class XXII, Downtown Rotary Club, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., American Council of Young Political Leaders Alumni, Rose State College Foundation Board of Trustees and Board of Governors, Advisory Board Member of the Oklahoma City University Meinders School of Business, Close Up, Red Earth, Junior League of Oklahoma, the Commission on the Status of Women, NOBEL Women, Women in Legislators’ Lobby, Urban League Young Professionals, and is a life member of the NAACP. Pittman has received numerous honors including 2013 Woman of the Year Nominee, Outstanding Community Service Recognition for Magic Star Foundation from former President Bill Clinton, Asian Legislative Excellence Award, and the Media Advocacy Award from the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. She also received the State, District and National TRIO Awards, and the Oklahoma Achiever under 40 Award. Pittman is a Henry Toll Fellows Graduate and is the host of the Anastasia Pittman Show, co-host on Caliedascope Radio Network, and featured guest on the Touch 1140AM, and Heart & Soul 92.1 FM. She is married with one daughter, one foster son, and three step children. Pittman is the great granddaughter of Abner Burnett, Tulsa Race Riot survivor, and granddaughter of the late Jazz Hall of Famer, C.E Pittman. .
