Call 604-953-3333 or visit www.translink.ca for details. If you take SkyTrain, RED, PURPLE, WHITE BIBS: exit at Granville Station. YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN BIBS: exit at Burrard Station. Stadium station is closest to the finish area. West Coast Express runs on race day. Check the “Events” page on www.westcoastexpress.com for details. To avoid line ups, pre-pay your fare with FareCards or FareSavers, visit translink.ca for more information. If you must drive, be forewarned that street closures in the start and finish areas begin at 5:00 a.m. There are plenty of pay parking lots in the downtown core. Look for parking near BC Place Stadium and jog to the start zone. meet youR fRiends at tHe StaRt Plan to meet your friends before the race at a landmark outside the start zone. Try the Vancouver Public Library, Canada Post building or Waterfront Station. Avoid landmarks within the start zone, such as the Vancouver Art Gallery, Hyatt Re- gency, Hotel Vancouver, as they will be awash in Sun Runners. tRanSPoRt youR geaR to tHe finiSH zone Transport your warm, dry clothes from the start to the finish zone for just $5. Pay at gear check trucks, located at start zone access streets, before 8:30 a.m. on race morning. A Walker’s-only gear check is open on Howe St. until 9:30 a.m. The 2.5K Shaw Mini Sun Runners have their own gear check near the Mini Sun Run start line at Pacific Blvd. Use the perforated gear check tag on your race bib to identify your gear; volunteers will be on hand to provide a plastic bag for your items. Gear must be picked up at Concord Place (empty lot) near the finish line by 1 p.m. Show your race number to claim your gear. Do not check valuables. The Vancouver Sun Run is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Clothing left on the street at the start will be collected after the race and discarded or donated to charity. Race StaRt Participants are grouped into waves according to their estimated finish time. Waves will start at timed intervals. The competitive wheelchair division starts at 8:40 a.m.; the New Balance Invitational Elite Division starts at 9:00 a.m. Please be patient while the groups ahead of you begin the race. Assemble behind the balloon arch that matches the colour of your race bib. See the map on the back of your race bib for access to streets. Starting positions are on a first-come, first-serve basis within each zone. Arrive early. Yellow zone closes at 8:30 a.m. WALKERS within the PURPLE and RED ZONES are encouraged to arrive at the start by 9:00 a.m., but are advised they will not cross the start line until approximately 9:45 a.m. The ChampionChip timing system times you when you cross the start and finish lines, so there’s no need to deduct the time it takes you to get to the start line from your finish time. For the safety of all participants including children, entrants with strollers, walking poles, baby joggers and assisted wheelchairs MUST start in the Red Zone and must walk the route, regardless of ability. 4 Race Day infoRmation ReSultS Complete finish results, including your name, finish time and placement, will be published in The Vancouver Sun on Monday, April 16. Corporate Team Challenge results will also be published in that issue, space permitting. Results will be posted at www.sunrun.com later that week. Awards will be mailed to the top finishers in 16 age categories. timing You will be timed using the MyLaps Bib Tag Timing System. This device will be attached to the back of your race bib and will record your start and finish times and provide you with accurate net results. Your time starts when you cross the start line. Do not remove it. Your race number must be worn on the front of your shirt for the event. NO DEVICE, NO RESULTS. YOU MUST CROSS BOTH THE START AND THE FINISH LINES TO RECEIVE A FINISH TIME. Device is coded and non-trans- ferable, please DO NOT switch bibs. The timing device and race number is yours to keep as a souvenir after the event. cHecK youR cHiP CHECK the code on the WHITE LABEL on your race bib (NOT THE RACE NUMBER) and make sure the LAST 2 CHARACTERS match the code on the back of your chip. If you are not sure, or if they do not match, go to the solutions desk inside BC Place Stadium or call 604-689-9441 before Saturday, April 14. Timing devices cannot be replaced or exchanged on race day. loSt cHiDRen Complete the form on the back of your child’s Shaw Mini Sun Run race number bib, including a race day contact phone number. Lost children will be brought to the event information booths inside BC Place Stadium and cared for in a secure area until they can be reunited with their families. Advise your child(ren) if they become separated from you during the run to look for the Communications Crew that line the route, Medical Crew (blue vests with white cross) or the Volunteer Crew (royal blue t-shirts). They will bring lost children to the event information booths. 5 Race Day infoRmation PoSt-Race PaRty Bagels, organic fruit from Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery (Spud.ca), yogurt and plenty of Canadian Springs water will be available. Enjoy the bands performing at the Main Stage, additional activities, games and performers all in the Shaw Kids Zone. RuleS of tHe RoaD Be courteous and follow the rules of the road. Slow runners or walkers MUST stay right and let others pass on the left. Avoid blocking the route in large groups. Do not stop in the middle of the course! If you must stop, slowly make your way off to the side of the road. Only runners, joggers, walkers and wheelchairs are permitted. Dogs, skateboards, wagons, in-line skates, scooters, roller skis, bicycles and vehicles are strictly prohibited. Participants with these items will be removed from the course and will be disqualified. tHe 2.5K SHaw mini Sun Run The 2.5K Shaw Mini Sun Run starts at 8:00 a.m. at Pacific Boulevard (across from BC Place Stadium). Participants DO NOT require a Chip. A clock will be at the start/finish for those who want to check their time, but the event is not timed. Adult escorts are encouraged for participants age eight and under. Adults must register but no fee is required unless requesting a t-shirt. Dozens of mascots and performers entertain the kids at the start area at the Kids Zone (face painting, balloon artistry, musicians and more!). 6 Sun Run 2012 Sun newspaper carriers at the Carrier Service Department No. 40 hut in New Westminster in 1933.
