The new leadership is expected to drive China’s economic growth to new horizons. To give members a more thorough understanding of the 18th CCP Congress and its significance, HKGCC will host a series of talks with respected commentators. On 30 November, two prominent speakers will share their insights and analysis from a political and economic perspective. Speaking at this event will be Mr Johnny Lau Yui-siu , a renowned Political Commentator and China Affairs Analyst. Mr Lau has worked as a journalist since 1972 and served as director of the Beijing Office, Hong Kong Wen Wei Po until 1989. After two years, he founded “Contemporary” Magazine with Lee Tse Chung and Ching Cheong and he served as Deputy Editor until 1995. He has hosted programmes “Developing the New World” at Hong Kong Metro Radio and “Political Sunday” at CRHK, and served as Affairs Advisor at Hong Kong Cable TV, the commentator of Canadian Radio, etc. In 2008, he was the adjunct lecturer at the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University and the Macau University. He regularly writes articles for columns at Apple Daily, Economic Daily and Oriental Daily, Sing Tao Daily and Ming Pao. He was awarded ‘Outstanding Chinese Reporter’ on the Olympics in 1988 and ‘Peace Prize of Public Discussion’ in 1989. Patrick Man-chun Ho , an Economist & Strategist (Global Markets), Bank of Communications Co.,Ltd. Hong Kong Branch and a TMA Full Member, will also speak at this event. Mr Ho received his Bachelor (with honours) and Master degrees in Social Sciences from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in political economics. He regularly provides macro political-economic, financial and investment analyses in various media such as Hong Kong Economic Journal, Ming Pao, Oriental Daily News, The Sun, ATV, NOW, RTHK and Metro Radio.
