JO SINCLAIR is professional artist with a passion for studio exploration and sharing through her artworks and teaching. She graduated with a BFA and honors from the Cleveland Institute of Art 1978 and a Masters in Art Education, MA, from Case Western Reserve University 2013, both in Cleveland, Ohio. Sinclair has created and exhibited many series of artworks throughout her professional career in a variety of media including sculptural weaving, sculptural paper, mixed-media jewelry, oil pastel, painting, collage, assemblage and encaustics. Sometimes the series has dictated the media, other times the media has informed the theme. Her work has been exhibited in numerous national shows including museum exhibitions at the Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, FL, Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH, Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton, FL and others. In 1983 several of her artworks were exhibited in "The New Explosion: Paper Art", Byer Museum, Evanston, Illinois, Group Exhibit: included Louise Nevelson, Robert Rauschenberg, Kenneth Noland, Marisol, Anuszkiewicz, Chuck Close, Larry Rivers, and Winifred Lutz. Then in 1986 she was one of seven artists included along with Kenneth Noland in the show PAPER WORKS, Seven Perspectives, Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, FL. She has had four solo exhibitions, the most recent in 2017 called “Navigating the Soul’s Journey” at Arts on Douglas Fine Art Gallery, New Smyrna Beach, FL. She has created private and corporate commissions including a 9’ x 12’ x 10” mixed-media paper sculpture for Indian Wells Country Club, Indian Wells, CA. Her artworks are included in the collections of individuals such as Agnes Gund (President Emerita of the Museum of Modern Art), Lee Ioccoca, Andrew Maas (former Director of Tampa Museum of Art), and many others. And corporate collections such as International Paper Corporation, Memphis, TN, Indian Wells Country Club, Indian Wells, CA, and Walt Disney Corporation, Orlando, FL. She is a veteran exhibitor and award winner in the national art fair circuit. She has been an art educator / instructor having taught at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH, former Bolles Elementary, St. Augustine, FL, Flagler College, St. Augustine, FL, a teaching artist with arts integration for Duval County Schools, and foundations instructor at Art Institute of Jacksonville. In 2013, Sinclair earned a Masters of Art Education while teaching Design 2D and 3D at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. She has taught 14 yrs. of children’s art camps, teen programs, incarcerated youth, and adult workshops at the Cultural Center of Ponte Vedra Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Maintains studio practice in combination with yoga and meditation, Sinclair begins again…and again…and again… Jo Sinclair is represented by Arts on Douglas Fine Art Gallery in New Smyrna Beach, FL. .
