MONMOUTH COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOFTBALL RECORD BOOK TEAM HISTORY Monmouth began intercollegiate competition in women’s softball in the spring of 1975. The first Midwest Athletic Conference for Women (MACW) softball tournament was played in 1979 and Monmouth won the first conference softball championship crown with a perfect 4-0 record. The league adopted the current North-South divisional system in 1984 and since then has used a postseason tournament to determine the conference team champion. Monmouth has always competed as a member of the South Division and won both divisional and conference titles in 1987. The MCAC (men) and MACW (women) conferences merged to form the Midwest Conference (MWC) in 1994. Several fields have been used for the Monmouth home games over the years. * 2020 season cut short after 10 games due to coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Beginning in 1984 the regular season champion was the winner of the regular season round-robin format. The NCAA Automatic Qualifier was determined by the four-team league tournament. From 1984 to 2015 the four-team field was comprised of the top two teams in the North and South Divisions. In 2016 the divisions merged, sending the top four teams in the regular season standings to the MWC Tournament. Monmouth results in the tournament are shown by overall game record and finish. Individual game results are listed with each opponent as either win or loss with Monmouth runs scored shown first. Series records are only for MACW/MWC tournament games.
