Wales Rugby League Wheelchair COVID-19 ‘Return to Play Strategy’ th May 06 2021 Update Authors: Richard Lawrence - Chief Medical Officer Gareth Kear - Chief Executive Officer Stephen Jones – Head Coach PAGE 1 Wheelchair RL Update Version 01 SJ UPDATE MAY 2021 From Monday 3rd May Rugby League activity will be sanctioned for Wheelchair Rugby League ALL WRL Covid protocols must be adhered to. Only hold training sessions if you have conducted a risk assessment, which must be supplied to [email protected] and your facilities allow you to hold them safely. Indoor organised activities for up to 15 adults maximum can take place. We do not want to be responsible for a local spike of Covid-19 To ensure safe training and help stem COVID all clubs must follow the following procedures… The number of participants in the hall MUST NOT exceed 15 this number includes players, coaches, volunteers and carers (does not include under 11s). A WRL registered COVID Officer/Manager must be present at all training sessions (not included in the count). Covid questionnaires to be completed no later than 48 hours before a session. Register with temperature monitoring MUST be in place at the entrance to the hall. All forms must be kept for 21 days after the session then destroyed unless there is a reported case during this period, Separate entry and exit points where possible. Masks must be worn at all times except during activities or drinking by players, coaches and volunteers NO EXCEPTIONS Hand sanitiser, gloves and masks to be available at entry point. Chairs MUST be cleaned using sanitising wipes by the person using it before the session and when finished. All used PPE, must be double bagged and disposed of in the correct manner. Equipment Only the person using the wheelchair may assemble it. Every water bottle must have a name on it. Bibs and shirts must not be shared. Tags MUST NOT be picked up from the floor by a player. Balls should be exchanged for a sanitised one on a regular basis. The person picking up tags must not be the same person who distributes them. Cleaning All bibs and shirts must be laundered after each session. Tags must be collected from the floor by the collector using PPE then wiped with either a sanitiser wipe or sanitising spray before being returned to players. Balls should be either washes in a sanitiser solution or with sanitiser wipes before, during and after each session. Wheelchairs MUST be cleaned before and after the session. All used cleaning products must be double bagged and disposed of correctly.
