The school was founded in 1935 in the home of teacher Margaret Lee Chadwick and began with only a handful of students. Through generous donations from the Vanderlip and Roessler families, Chadwick moved three years later to its cur- rent location on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, overlooking the South Bay and Los Angeles. With a commitment to economic, social and ethnic diversity, Chadwick draws students from a wide geographic area that includes more than 30 different communities. Since 1935, the school community has remained true to Mrs. Chadwick’s founding principles, building on her ideals and philosophy over the past seven decades. Chadwick School emphasizes academic excellence, personal growth opportunities and development of exemplary character, as represented by our five core values : RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, COMPASSION AND HONESTY.
