Allegro The Ariel Quartet Characterized by its youth, brilliant playing and soulful interpretations, the Ariel Quartet has quickly earned a glowing international reputation. Previously the resident ensemble in the New England Conservatory’s prestigious Professional String David’s Song Anatolijus Šenderovas Quartet Training Program, the Quartet recently celebrated its tenth for Cello and String Quartet (2006) (b. 1945) anniversary and is now the quartet-in-residence at the University of David Geringas, cello Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Winners of the Fischoff Grand Prize, the Ariel Quartet first started playing together as youths in Israel, and it has been performing around the world since. Allegro moderato Mstislav Rostropovich at the Moscow Conservatory and won the III. Andante sostenuto gold medal at the Tchaikovsky competition. Known for an unusually broad repertoire from the early Baroque to the contemporary, IV. Finale. Allegro moderato testament to his flexibility and curiosity, his intellectual rigor, stylistic David Geringas, cello versatility, melodic feeling, and the sensuousness of his tone have brought him praise the world over. As one of the most virtuosic performers with more than 100 recordings to his name, as one of the most highly sought-after teachers and as a great conductor, David Geringas belongs to the musical elite of today.
