Core to their mission is reducing antisocial behaviour and by using innovative people-centred methods, with a values led approach, they provide prevention and early intervention solutions through engagement, education and the promotion of personal responsibility. The organisation was set up on 1st December 2011 and registered under the Charities Act 8th July 2012. Over the last 5 years Mancunian Way has actively engaged over 8683 people (4541 young people and 4142 adults) in marginalised and disengaged communities across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas. The organisation is headed up by Nick Buckley, who setup the organisation after being made redundant from a career in the public sector. Nick used his redundancy pay, networks, tenacity and commitment to creating social change for the better, to establish a ground breaking organisation that does things differently. Through their highly skilled team, they deliver a broad range of needs led interventions and programmes impacting the key areas of: Youth empowerment and active citizenship Reduction in antisocial behaviour Community cohesion – building creative community partnerships Positive lifestyles and attitudes Mancunian Way actively targets support to the most vulnerable, in a purposeful way to achieve consistent outcomes with those who are disengaged from mainstream support. They have supported countless people across Greater Manchester and beyond to transform their lives by taking a more active and positive role in their community and accessing opportunities they would not otherwise have sought. This helps people to excel, where previously hope and potential were stifled. The key ingredients which have enabled Mancunian Way to support individuals and empower communities include: creative partnerships, innovative trust building methods, organic needs led interventions and a highly skilled and committed team. Throughout this report a broad range of outcomes and impacts are documented highlighting core programmes, how they have evolved and the people they have made a difference with across generations and across communities. A series of simple social value statements demonstrate how Mancunian Way pledge to address social issues under the key areas listed above and the financial cost benefits this brings. An overarching observation about Mancunian Way is the scale of the reach they have had with interventions and the depth of quality and impact they are able to deliver in a cost effective way. Their ability to gain trust at individual and organisational levels and mobilise communities to take responsibility for their own challenges, is building legacies and changing lives. 3 Methodology In order to give an in depth summary of activities, outcomes, impact and value, the structure for gathering information for this report is 3 fold: Firstly, to provide a quantative evidence base, there has been a review and summary of existing evaluations to date; secondly, there has been a programme of stakeholder engagement activities across staff, volunteers, young people and adults linked to Mancunian Way; finally consultation with other direct beneficiaries and indirect beneficiaries. To add qualitative data we have selected a diverse representative field of beneficiaries and consulted with the following both in focus groups and through interview: - Senior Management Team - 4 Young Ambassadors - 6 additional staff - 1 parent - 2 volunteers - 2 community partners - 15 young people across 2 youth groups In addition we have also analysed data from interviews and surveys with direct and indirect beneficiaries, to start to quantify some basic value indicators and provide some concluding social value statements across a broad range of areas where social value is being created by the interventions and services Mancunian Way are running. In order to attach impact and value to the outcomes that Mancunian Way have delivered, we have identified a range of government policies that add value to these statements. Findings Evaluation Reports To date, a broad range of programmes and activities have been co-designed and created to meet the aims and objectives of Mancunian Way.
