Parent Letter Externals

Parent Letter Externals

19 July 2021 Dear Students, Parents and Carers As we approach the end of term, I am writing to you to let you know the arrangements for GCSE Results Day and confirmation of Sixth Form places and subjects. We hope that, despite the unusual circumstances surrounding this year’s exam results, there will be much to celebrate and that students’ hard work will be recognised. We would like to invite external applicants into school on Thursday 12th August from 11.30am to see a member of staff to discuss their place in the Sixth Form. Please enter school via the Main Steps, then go straight ahead into the Dining Hall to speak to Ms Chiswick, Sixth Form Welfare and Administration Officer, in order to arrange a meeting time. We will ask you to wait in the Dining Hall until your appointment with a member of staff. Parents and carers are encouraged to wait with students and to accompany them to the meeting. Additional support is available from YC Hertfordshire’s team of Personal Advisers who are available to offer information, advice and guidance on going to college or Sixth Form, finding a job or apprenticeship or undertaking some training. In order to contact a member of the team, students or parents/carers should text ‘RESULTS’ to 07860 065173 with the student’s name, date of birth and the name of the school your son/daughter currently attends. One of the Personal Advisers will then be in touch as soon as possible. Alternatively, students can call the team on 01992 588220 or email their local YC Hertfordshire team: [email protected] if you live in the East Herts district, including Ware, Hertford, Bishop’s Stortford and Buntingford [email protected] if you live in the borough of Welwyn Hatfield, including Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and surrounding areas [email protected] if you live in the borough of Broxbourne, including Cheshunt, Waltham Cross and Hoddesdon Exams in the Autumn Term The Government has confirmed students will have the opportunity to sit their exams in an autumn exam series if they felt that the grade they were awarded did not reflect the one they thought they might achieve. These GCSE exams have been scheduled for November-December 2021. Should a student wish to take exams in any subject(s), please go to the Exams tab on the website where you will find guidance as to your next steps as soon as we receive it from the exam boards regarding these entries. Requests for entries must be with us by 27th September. More than ever this year, we are looking forward to celebrating with students on Results Day, as well as supporting them in their next steps. If you have any questions or concerns at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] It was a pleasure to welcome so many students to our Induction Weeks and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with them on their post-16 journey. Pre-course assignments are now available on the website under the Sixth Form tab; students are required to complete the work for all the subjects they are considering taking from September. Yours sincerely Mrs Jane Beacom Deputy Headteacher .
