There are many Trusts functioning under the name of ‘Sri Sathya Sai Trust (Name of the state)’. In six of these Trusts functioning in the states of Bihar, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana & Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, the Central Trust has powers to nominate the trustees. In all the other State Trusts, new trustees are appointed by the existing trustees. There are some Sai Trusts and Foundations functioning overseas which are independent bodies and the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has no legal connection with them though all are connected through the Divine inspiration of Bhagawan Baba.
