__________________________________________________________________________________ MEDIA ADVISORY AITE Hosts NASA Research Scientist as Part of Career Week FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WHO: Dr. Heidi Hammel, Senior Research Scientist, Space Science Institute WHAT: Annual Career Week Featured Speaker WHEN: Friday April 29, 1:00-2:00PM WHERE: Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE) Cyber Café 411 High Ridge Road BACKGROUND: Dr. Heidi Hammel, a planetary astronomer from the Space Science Institute, will culminate AITE’s Career Week with a presentation about her research and career path. Dr. Hammel led the Hubble Space Telescope Team that investigated Jupiter’s atmospheric response to the collision with the Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1994. She is currently an Interdisciplinary Scientist for Hubble’s successor, the James Webb Space Telescope, which is scheduled for launch in 2018. Dr. Hammel is a recipient of the Carl Sagen Medal which is given to a scientist who has greatly enhanced the general public’s understanding of planetary science.
