Location : Boudh district is one of the Centrally located districts in Odisha. It lies between 83o 34’ to 84o 49’ East longitude and between 20o 22’ to 20o 60’ North latitude. It is bounded by the Sonepur district in north, Kandhamal district in south, Nayagarh district in the east and Bolangir district in the west. 2. Climate : The climate condition of the district is generally hot with high humidity during March to June and cold during November to February. The monsoon generally breaks during the month of June. Aannual rainfall of the district was 1246.2 m.m in 2011 which is lower than the normal rainfall (1623.1 m.m). 3. Area and Population : The district has an area of 3098 sq.kms and 4.41 lakhs of population as per 2011 census. The district accounts for 1.99 percent of the states territory and shares 1.05 percent of the states population. The density of population of the district is 142 per sq. kms. As against 270 person per sq.km of the state. It has 1186 villages (including 71 un-inhabited villages) covering 3 blocks, 3 Tahasils and 1 Subdivisions. As per 2011 census the schedule caste population is 104934 (23.8 %) and schedule tribe population 55364 (12.5 %) . The literacy percentage o the district covers 71.6 against 72.9 of the state. 4. Agriculture : During the year 2010-11, the net area sown was 74 thousand hectares against 4681 thousand hectares of the state. The Production of paddy was 1177343 quintals, 418 quintals wheat, 3857 quintals maize, 29 quintals ragi, 8089 quintals mung, 1226 quintals biri, 7915 quintals kulthi, and 1059 quintals till, 247 quintals groundnuts, 256 quintals mustard and 4323 quintals potatoes and 7366 quintals sugarcane.
