Guide to FRATERNITY RUSH MMXIX Kickoff: Saturday, August 31 Kresge Oval Recruitment Period: August 31 - September 11 Dear Prospective Member, On behalf of the Interfraternity Council and our twenty-seven organizations, it is my pleasure to welcome you to MIT, and invite you to participate in Rush 2019! I must admit that when I first came to MIT, I did not imagine getting involved with the fraternity community. I decided to Rush because of the free stuff, in all honesty. But I can also say that joining a Fraternity is one of the best decisions I've ever made. This is a fantastic community that genuinely defines the MIT experience for a lot of people, in a very positive way. Well over a thousand students, covering all genders and ethnicities and including more that 45% of MIT's undergraduate male population make the fraternity community at MIT a truly unique collection of people. Students from a truly staggering amount of academic departments, sports teams, and clubs call a fraternity home. I can say firsthand that I have benefited immensely from being a part of this community. I have gotten so many things from being in a fraternity, from friends that I am tremendously close with to rewarding networking opportunities to enjoyable social activities. I never fail to be amazed at what our members are up to. So please take this Rush period to meet this great community. That's what it's for. The days are crammed with exciting events painstakingly curated over the past few months just for you to get to know us. Please enjoy the events, just as we did when we were in your shoes, and keep an open mind to really see what our diverse and accomplished community has to offer as you get started with your time at MIT. For more information about Rush or to learn about the Interfraternity Councils role within the community, visit our website at mitifc.com. Please dont hesitate to email the IFC Executive Board at [email protected]. For questions regarding a specific chapter, please use the contact information provided in this guide. Have fun and welcome to Rush 2019!
