romises CAMP MEETING 2017 June 22 - July 2 P June 22, 2017 To my Allegheny East Conference Family and Friends the World Over, What a great joy it is to welcome you to our 50th Anniversary as a conference, birthed by the great Allegheny Conference in 1967, along with our twin sister, the Allegheny West Confer- ence. The growth and influence of this conference has been phenomenal. Fifty years ago, after overcoming the venerable "Three Sisters" of Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda, we stepped out on the promise made by God, that He would be with us and moved forward year after year, under the banner of the Holy Spirit and the successive administrative leadership of William A. Thompson, Edward Dorsey, Luther R. Palmer, Jr., Meade C. Van Putten, Sr., Alvin Kibble, and Charles L. Cheatham, to arrive at where we are today, 170 churches and companies and nearly 40,000 members. As you walk these hallowed grounds, remember the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised to give their inheritance a land wherein they could dwell, and, promised to bless them. Today, as you stroll these grounds and enjoy the aura of God's presence, you must realize that we, today, are standing on the same promises that God gave His children years ago. This is His land, given to us to use until He comes. Therefore, we have chosen as our theme, and may I say, our creed, for this encampment, "Standing on the Promises!" Were it not for God, where would we be, what would we have accomplished? We held on to the promises and we hold on to the promises, because soon and very soon, He, who made the promise to come again, will come and will not tarry. My prayer is that each of us will hold on to Him until that day. God bless you and keep you! Yours, in His Service Henry J. We congratulate you for all you have accomplished by God's grace. The work that has been entrusted to you is of the utmost importance: "...to cooperate with God and Christ for the saving of souls, " (CS p. 85) show- ing the world the great interest God has for mankind. Continue with the beautiful mission- driven focus you have as you build on your relationship with Christ, study the precious Word of God, and contemplate His messages through the Spirit of Prophecy. We must nev- er neglect the sacred duties of bringing to mind the Lord's leadings in the past and of sharing the Advent message in our homes, communities, towns, and territory. Confidence in God's past leadings will keep us in His will, taking us safely into the future. All heaven rejoices with you for persevering on your journey to this point and for celebrating Christ's salvific love. "One soul saved from error, and brought under the banner of Christ, will cause joy in heaven ...A soul saved will, through his godly influence, bring other souls to a knowledge of salvation, and thus the work will multiply, and only the revealings of the day of judgment will make manifest the extent of the work." (CChp. 189) Our generation has the great privilege of serving the Lord at this crucial time in earth's history. We are witnesses to the unfolding of the Great Controversy theme as it comes to a climax. God will continue to bless the many congrega- tions represented in your conference as you continue to know God and His tremendous love more deeply. Let us humbly submit ourselves to Christ and prayerfully plead for the Holy Spirit's influence so that we may prepare a peo- ple for the Lord's soon return. God will never leave us and will guide us unfailingly. His promise in Matthew 28:20 "...surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" is sure and we can depend on Him. During your 50th Anniversary celebrations, you will be looking back to acknowledge the marvelous way the Lord has led His Church, and you will also be looking forward to God's proclamations of hope and promise. God has blessed the success of your programs, and the world church is grateful for the members, churches, institutions, workers, and leaders of the Allegheny East Conference and all that each one of you has done to advance God's work. We praise God for what He is doing for you and through you! May God continue to bless your powerful Conference as together we look forward to Christ's soon return.
